Help with podcast apps and walking.

Hi, when I walk with a podcast on and my phone in my pocket, i've noticed the screen turns on if it brushes against my coat, is there anything I can do about this?

I've noticed it only happens when headphones are plugged in.

Is this one of those apple issues I'm going to have to work with, by turning the speech off; or is there a work around/fix?

Can you try this on your Iphone.

1. plug headphones in.

2. open up any podcast app and play a podcast.

3. lock the screen, then tap on the screen and report back. For me it displays the lock screen, I'd like to know what it does for you.

4. Give me your Iphone number, for example mine is an x s.

Just so you know; I'm going to be sharing this link with apple, if I get enough results.

I just did a little research and it's to do with locking the phone, someone has reported it but of course nothing was done.

I'm going to call apple today and see what they say but I doubt anything will be done about it.

Any chance that you have Raise To Wake enabled, and the movement of the phone in your pocket is being treated as a ā€œraiseā€?

Raise to wake is turned off.

I was wrong about apple; they're looking into this issue, I don't know how well it will go but they're looking into it.

Can you and others try this on your Iphones.

1. plug headphones in.

2. open up any podcast app and play a podcast.

3. lock the screen, then tap on it and report back. For me it displays the lock screen, I'd like to know what it does for you.

what I did is as follows:
1. plugged my headphones in.
2. opened 'the better words,' podcast on my overcast.
3. locked the screen.
now I got confused after this.
do I have to press the power button and then tap?
if yes, then it displays a lock screen for me and shows what's playing.
do let me know if I'm doing anything wrong and I'll love to do it correctly and report back :)

hi
so I played the same podcast with overcast. locked my screen and as soon as I locked it, tapped on it. nothing happens.
mine is an IPhone 6s.
by the way, yesterday night I was listening to a podcast with headphones plugged in and the phone was in my pocket. what you are describing did not occur when it brushed with the pocket.
I was able to listen to it without the screen turning itself on.
hope I'm being clear :)

That was very clear and will help to figure out what's going on.

I remember someone posting about a similar issue with their iPhone XR, so I Googled "AppleVis, raise to wake", and was reminded of what the feature is called--Tap to Wake. This is different than Raise to Wake. Raise to Wake relies on the phone moving to display the lock screen, whereas Tap to Wake relies on the screen being tapped to display the lock screen.

You can find it in Settings/Accessibility/Touch. It's under the Physical and Motor heading. This sounds exactly like what you're describing. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Shersey

The option is turned off but thanks.
