Hello applevis community. On Wednesday, I got an email saying my Claude account has been paused because it thought I am a child. In order for me to turn my account back on, I would need to complete the age verification. However, this has not been going well for me; it never recognizes my face, so I cannot actually get my age verified. It just says that it failed to determine my age.
The age verification link will expire in 28 days from Friday, May 8th, 2026, and I will not be able to appeal the decision anymore. Once that happens, I won't be able to get back into that account ever again. My account has all of my chats and memory in there, and I do not want to have to retrain the AI.
I have already filled out the appeal form, so I am currently awaiting a response. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to put them down in the comments. I am all ears.

If you have a credit card it will do it, add it to wallet. If you are in the US and on those states that you can add your State ID that will work also. Passport also.

Granted I do not know what region you reside, but that sounds like a phishing ploy. I mean, why would your iCloud account be permanently locked?

Claude not ICloud
So, this is not my Apple account that got locked out. I am in the United States of America and I live in the state of Colorado, so age verification does not apply. This is actually my Claude account, which is an AI that I use and I've been using it since January of 2026. It has a lot of memory about me and a lot of chat saved in my account, so I don't want to retrain the AI with all my memories. Even though you can import memories into Claude, and you can also tell it to give you all the memories so you can import them, I cannot do that since I cannot log into my account at the moment.
Also, this age verification site is not asking for critical details or anything like that. I have two options: age estimation, which doesn't work, or an ID or other form of identification. Right now, I'm in the process of getting my identification, so that's not an option. I honestly preferred the older system where it just asked for your birth date and that's that. I am not looking forward to age verification coming to more devices. I've even heard that it's coming on Windows computers soon, meaning that you may not be able to use your device until you verify your age. Hopefully, that doesn't end up happening.

Apologies, with all the posts about "Age Verification, I jumped the gun on your post. Not sure what to tell you about Claude. I have not used it in about a year or more. Well, other than to ask a sighted friend to assist? 😅
