Has apple made a reversal or just a bug I've now got

Hi all,
I've noticed on my iPhone 6s since ios 11.4 airplay no longer stays connected to a device. Since ios 11 I think Apple had set airplay so once connected you had to manually disconnect which I found very helpful. Now it seems to timeout again after about 5 minutes. as anyone else noticed this or have I picked up a bug somehow. It is very annoying if Apple have changed this back. You should at least have a setting to choose if you want to stay connected or not.

I just tested this, and AirPlay stays connected for me, at least for relatively short durations (about 15 minutes or so). Apple might have introduced a timeout back into iOS, but if they did it is longer than the five minutes it used to be before iOS 11.

Personally, I didn’t like the five-minute timeout, because a bathroom break was often enough to disconnect from AirPlay. However, I don’t like the continuous connection either, since I sometimes AirPlay something to my bedroom speakers with a sleep timer when going to bed, and I don’t always remember to disconnect AirPlay the next morning before trying to play something else. Perhaps a timeout of 30 minutes or 1 hour would be better.

I will keep my iPad connected to AirPlay overnight tonight, to see if it is still connected tomorrow morning or not.

Hello, ye'h I agree I sometimes forget to disconnect. I think a 1 hour timeout would be a great idea. Or as I said before some setting where you can choose how long to stay connected.

I left AirPlay connected last night when I went to bed, and when I got up this morning it was disconnected.
