Hi,

I'm currently searching for a good chiming app that works with iOS 15, that beeps on the quarter hour. the apps that I've tested, such as chime and Diii Notify, no longer work on iOS 15. their's hourly bell tower, but it only beeps on the hour, which I don't want. so, does anyone have any good recommendations? thanks in advance.

Diii has been updated. I haven't tested it yet so I am not sure if it is working under 15.

Big Ben has been updated to work with iOS15 and that is the app I use. It’s not free but I cannot remember its price as I have used it since 2014.

Westminster Chimes is due to be updated although I don’t know when that will be.

Big Ben can be found at:

Hi, After it was touted here as working I purchased this app only to find that no matter what I do on an iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS15.0.2 I still have no chiming joy. Can anyone tell me what they did to make Big Ben work please? And I do hope Westminster Chimes does get updated one day as I do miss it. Take good care.

I'm happy to report that Diii Notify once again works! I can finally receive hourly beeps again.

Hello,

When you launch Big Ben there is a Settings Button.

Having double-tapped Settings make sure you select the option Westminster Quarters.

Here’s what it says when you swipe right from this button:

“ Turn this on if you wish to hear BigBen's famous bell chiming every 15 minutes and tolling the hours. To hear the chimes even while the app is off, make sure you allow BigBen notifications and turn "Sounds" on in the Settings.”

I have enabled notifications and set it to Sounds.

As I am an Apple Watch owner, I have disabled notifications for Big Ben in the Watch App.

I have no idea if the differing hardware impacts on Big Ben’s functionality I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max here.

On my device having carried out the above steps, Big Ben works as expected with the device locked and the app removed from Task Switcher.

You could try contacting the developer to see if they have any suggestions.

I regret the app is not currently working for you.

having searched for BIII I can't find it, not at least in the US app store. Is it not there?

As the subject states, the reason you could not find the app in the App Store is because you were spelling it wrong, an odd thing to do considering how many times it is mentioned on this page. Entering the correct spelling yields the correct App Store listing. Note that even though it is available on the U.S. App Store, it doesn't appear to have been developed in the U.S., so your mileage may vary when it comes to understanding the text in the app, the quality of its development, the availability of support or quality of support that is provided, etc.

Hmm, I thought I read "BIII. Was that not correct? I'll take a look and see.

Ok, got it, Looks good so far. We'll see if this actually works. I have the digital watch set to go off until 8 pm I think then it will stop. 64 notifies as a limit? that works, hopefully apple can raise that?

Hi Malcolm I regret this too as I've followed all the instructions to the letter selecting the same exact settings as you've detailed. Ah well the mystery continues.

I downloaded the app, and it is very accessible, but can we use it as a hourly talking clock? or just a count down timer?

By KE7ZUM on Monday, October 25, 2021 - 01:34

you can, although I noticed that my notificatiosn stound stopped at random so I'm not sure what's going on.

Yeah looks like Dii broke. I can no longer hear the notifiication beeps anymore. this is with the app closed. you think it would just work.

If you’re having problem with chimes on the hour or half-hour etc. I would strongly recommend reminder, reminder with voice available on the App Store
You can set up a reminder as I have for an hourly Beep noise between the hours of 8 o’clock and 10 o’clock at night but you can have different hours or set up another reminder to do it at the quarter or half hour e duringtc the timeframe you’re interested in
There are a number of tones which you can choose from in the app but you can also add your own.

The only thing I would suggest if you use this app is in notifications only have sound turned on and do not turn on any of the 3 banner settings

I believe it’s free for up to three different reminders and after that you have to pay but it’s a nominal fee of one or two dollars
