Door Detection in iOS 16 is one of the most interesting accessibility features I've seen in a while. I have low vision and I've found that Door Detection, even in its current form is pretty impressive to help with independently finding doors.
It's also a glimpse at how mixed reality headsets - like that which Apple are rumoured to be working on - might work in a real-world context for visually impaired people, putting accessibility as one of their main selling points. Also, as a tech enthusiast it's great to see the LIDAR sensor being put to additional use.
I had the chance to put together a hands-on YouTube video on this feature for Thomas Pocklington Trust. If you're interested, please do go ahead and check it out, I have included the link in this post.
