Gesture changes for multitasking

Hey every one!

I have a quick question about multi-tasking and dock on ipad.
Is there a way to change the gesture to get to the dock? I find I'm having a hard time doing the swipe gesture to get the dock.
Is there a way to change the gesture for getting to the dock on ipad? I seen an option for dock when looking through command options for voiceover.
Or if there's no way to change the gestures then is there another way to activate the dock? Some times I like to multi'task when I'm searching for books. I'll open goodreads and Voice Dream Reader and copy and paste titles from my want to read shelf in to the search function on VDR. and run them side by side. Or Can'll have VDR. and mail open and do the samch thing I do with Goodreads. And that's just an example of how I use multi-tasking. Gotta love the nice big screen on the ipad. lol

thank you all in advance! :-)

And I know that voice dream reader and mail at least support multitasking. I know mail that’s because it’s an Apple product. And then a voice dream reader does because I looked it up just to make sure. And all the apps that I want to use are in my dock.

You certainly can at least add another gesture to get to the dock. In Voiceover settings, go to commands, all commands, system. In there you should be able to find it.

Thank you so much!

Do you I just hit something on the status bar, and then use the two finger triple tap?
The last time I did this, it worked great when I get the tech-support guy on the phone. As computers seem to have a tendency to do. LOL
And I’m trying to do it now, and and I don’t know why, but that swipe gesture just seems to be a very hard one for me to do.

The dock swipe gesture is a little tricky, although I do find it doable myself. That's why they have the ability to remap gestures now though, I guess. Out of curiosity, what did you remap it to? My custom gestures are are two finger tap 4 times for spotlight, swipe left and right with two fingers for jumping between headers, and a new one which is four finger single tap which is a shortcut that starts playing Podcasts.

Not sure what you mean about the two finger triple tap, though.

That’s what I remapped it to. I read mapped it to the gesture for the item choose her. I never used the item choose her. I found it more of an annoyance. Because I kept hitting it sometimes whenever the dictation button wouldn’t work to either start or stop dictation.

I never thought about making a gesture to start playing podcasts! Are you just gave me an idea!
But that’s what I meant. I put the gesture that I remapped in. Sorry for the confusion!

I’m curious. How did you make the four finger single tap gesture play podcasts?
Did you make that the magic tap gesture?

Because, you’re giving me an idea. Maybe I could use the four finger single tab to play podcasts. But I could keep my magic tap, my two finger double tap, for my magic tap. Which please audio, and is that magic tap usually does.

I actually didn't remap the magic tap, since I specifically wanted to start playing Apple podcasts, not anythingelse. I was sick of having to open the Podcasts app every time I had been playing some other audio like Youtube or something.

What I did was create a single command Shortcut with a single action, play podcasts, in it, then assigned that to four finger single tap in all commands. Since now Shortcuts don't prompt me to hit "run" every time I run them with gestures, it's perfect.

Yes, I'm sorry, I'm a hopeless geek.

You just want to do the shortcut section on the commands part of the settings and voiceover? Or did you just create a play podcasts shortcut from the Shortcuts app, and then assign it to a gesture?

Yeah. That is kind of annoying. I think I would want to do something similar with my BARD. Mobile app. And have it start playing the audio book or magazine that I was listening to.

I don’t want to reassign the magic tap either. You are giving me some new ideas to play around with! LOL but that’s OK! Because I am a hopeless geek myself! LOL I’m glad to know that I am in good company!

Now if only I could figure out how to make a gesture to activate braille screen input, so that I don't have to twist the rotor every time I want to use it... Yes, I'm a tech nerd who is also lazy at times. lol

The only problem I might run into is which podcatcher to assign it to. Because I use 18 or 19 different podcatchers. lol

For the podcast thing yes, I just created the shortcut then assigned it in commands. The problem with Shortcuts is that the author of the app has to create the command you want. I have no idea if Bard mobile has any Shortcut actions, much less one to start playing your current book. That's one you'll have to investigate for yourself, ☺️

As for braille keyboard input, you can. By default, on the iPad at least, ,it's double tap with 5 fingers I think. You cold certainly make it something different if you wanted to, again in the commands section.

Wow! I didn’t know you could do that!

You were giving me quite a few ideas to play around with here! Thank you! I definitely am going to try that! The movie set something up to get to other keyboards. Like the emoji. Or the regular. Now that would be even better. Since I’m pretty much using braille exclusively now. Although I do use although I do use the regular keyboard. Especially for dictation purposes.
But I also use the emoji keyboard. I might also be getting a third-party braille keyboard app to use in conjunction with grilling on the iPad.

But, I think with this new grill standard, I think I might switch to using braille at least 99 to 98% of times. Because like tonight for example, I was able to type out my whole email address in unified English frail. Whereas before, I had to type the first part then switch to the keyboard, and then type the +, and then switch back. And then I could type gmail.com. Although usually I just typed out the first half of my email address with spiral screen input, and then switched back to the regular keyboard and typed out the rest of it using that. It was a real pain.
