i have read comments about both garage band and thumb jam. would like to know how people decided to purchase one or the other. apart from the slight difference in price, both applications are very similar. is one more accessible with voice over than the other?

I have a lot more experience with Garageband, though. Garageband is good for making multi-track recordings. You can set up a loop of 8 or more measures and make a beat. Then record guitar or keys on top of it. It is great for simple recording. Thumbjam is more of an instrument rather than a multi-track recording program, from what I have seen. It is cool for getting interesting strings sounds and electric guitar sounds.

I also have both of these apps. It's really hard to say which one I prefer, as I think they're both good. One thing I haven't figured out in GarageBand is how to do editing, such as if you need to replace a bad note or something. I think I found out how to get into the editing mode, but not how to get back out. Eventually, I ended up getting rid of my project.

thank you both for your feedback. i want to be able to recored and edit so sounds like garage band is the more suitable app out of the 2. i read that voice over accessability is good. will need to know how to edit though?
It depends what you want to do. If you want to play with the instruments, I'd say thumbJam, but I prefer garageband because it is a better VoiceOver experience when creating a project.

Hi, GarageBand is basically a MIDI sequencer with built-in instruments for iOS devices, and does not create songs like Band In A Box does. It would be neat if there was an app similar to BIAB, as I could see myself using such a thing if I'm away from my computer but still want to create some quick tracks to practice with.
