Flick Type is great but there is something about which I must gripe.

Okay, let me give you some context. I absolutely hate braille screen input, can't figure out m braille, and absolutely hate dictation because it's an unreliable piece of crap, and I don]t like people knowing what I'm doing, might as well call instead of texting because people would hear it anyway, and regular typing is slow as hell. So, when FlickType came out, it was a ground breaking experience for me. The thing is, for the past year I've been using it, there has been one glaring bug. It only happens in certain apps, gmail and safari being the only two Ive seen it in, and unfortunately the two where I need it to not do this the most. You might ask, what is this bug? Well, When I type a word that isn't in the dictionary by doing the usual touch typing method you're supposed to do, it puts spaces between each letter. Example, imagine if the word hello wasn't in the dictionary, I type it, I end up with H E L L O. And when I switch back to the regular keyboard to get rid of all the crap, it inserts a random amount of spaces, but not just a few, like 8 to 12 spaces, and you have to navigate past all of them to get rid of them. This only happens for me in specific apps, mainly gmail and safari. I haven't seen it in any other apps that I remember.

I'm in the beta test group, and all is silent. Is Flicktype dead, or dead as soon as an iOS update breaks it sufficiently?

It was updated a month or so ago, and changed from a subscription to a one time purchase

Hi guys. The bug with spacing between letters has been around for a while and its a fairly annoying one, particularly in mail. It seems to happen at the start of a line most frequently. This isn't an ideal solution, but what I've been doing is typing what I want to say in the message app, then copy and paste it into the email I want to send. It's still better than reaching for a Bluetooth keyboard, but still far from ideal. Hopefully there will be an update soon to address this. It was an ios update that first caused this issue, I forget which version, but hopefully a solution can be found. Slainte

I like Flicktype a lot, but can never switch to it unless I turn off Voiceover. When I cycle through available keybaords, it's only English and emojis, even though I've turned on Flicktype in the keyboards settings and given full acess. If I hol down and get the menu that lets me choose keyboards, I can't use VO to select anything. Any guidance on this would be appreciated.

I've had that problem too, and unfortunately it happens in any app that uses the safari browser within the app, like the browse bard page in bard mobile.

The other FlickType bug In safari is that flicking left To delete a word doesn't always work. Especially if it's the beginning of a Line or sentence. It says beginning of document, even though that's not the case.

Flicktype really is a revolutionary App, and I still rely on it. I do wish they'd squash these particularly pesky bugs though.

In the FlickType app there is a Support button that allows you to type a message to the developer. he is also on Twitter. Username @FlickType
and he is known to respond to messages.

I was surprised to find out that Fleksy is still a thing. Isn't that also made by the same person who made FlickType? And do you know if it's a better experience? These issues with FlickType are making me angry, and I can't take it anymore. I hate the regular keyboard, and sense neither m braille or braille screen input allow you to calibrate the dots to where ever on the screen you are, and they are in that stupid v shape, and because of the weight of my iPhone xr it's uncomfortable, I need a solution fast.

Flicktype was created because Fleksy became less accessible.

I actually find that with the XR, I can braille screen much easier than the 6s I had before. I have found it easier to have the braille screen working with the side button facing me in table top mode. The guide to braille screen input on this site is helpful, including the comments which will help troubleshoot various difficulties. This is my primary input method, and it's worth practicing and sticking with it in my opinion.
