Reading between the lines, this is a continuation of the rather unusable mainstream edition of Fleksy, not the voyceover friendly original or VO editions. If the source code is now free in the public domain, could someone with the necessary skills rewrite something closer to the original, especially as the VO version won't work when ios 11 arrives?

Hello everyone,
Since hearing that Fleksy VO would not work with iOS 11, I started using the onboard Fleksu keyboard. It took me a while, but I finally got to the point where I can type with it quite well. But there are some things that I wish they would improve.

I prefer to use the minimal keyboard, which is much like the old Fleksy VO, and I would like to see the backspace button changed to an " add a new line" button. The two finger swipe down does not work very well to add a new line. The backspace button is really unnecessary, because a swipe to the left will erase the last thing you type.

I would also like to see a toggle to the native iOS keyboard so when needed, it would be easier to bring up. When you are in the minimal keyboard it is necessary to do a three finger swipe up and then find the globe button on the keyboard in order to get to the iOS keyboard. Perhaps, I long press on the aforementioned backspace button or shift button could do the trick.

Being able to access the numbers/symbols keyboard needs improvement. There is an option for a long press to bring up numbers, but unfortunately when this option is engaged, you cannot input words manually or input words into the Dictionary. The old Fleksy VO had a row of numbers and symbols at the top, this would be a much better work around.

Fleksy keyboard isn't perfect, but it does work! Since I've been using it for the last three or four weeks, I've gotten much more efficient with it. Occasionally, it will frustrate me, but then it's less frustration that I have with the native iOS keyboard. :-)

One thing I wish they would give us for all keyboards, is the ability to toggle off additional characters in all keyboards. For example when I slide to the E and then slide off of it, I will get the "E circumflex".
I have no use for these additional characters as I only write and speak English.. Very frustrating when these pop up, and I wish there was a way to shut them down.

Hi,
Under the Flexy Settings there is an option to turn on or off option to show all accented letters.
Thanks,
JoAnn

how can I go about accessing the different keyboards to use with Fleksy, and the different settings? This seems to be cumbersome and I can't seem to reliably use VO in the Fleksy app?
Thanks all.
JT

HiJoAnn,
Thanks for the tip, I tried turning off all accents, but it didn't work. However, I realized that the extensions would allow me to put in a number row, and some hot keys which allow me to enter a new line and various other punctuation I use often.
This makes the fleksy keyboard close to my liking, with the exception of the toggle to the IOS keyboard. Close enough!

Hi Chuck,
Sorry if my tip didn't work for you! I'm glad you found some solutions to your problem! Have a wonderful day!
Thanks,
JoAnn

Hello, I wrote a message explaining my frustration with the fleksy keyboard, and asked if the VO version could be updated. I received a fairly canned response indicating that there was a link to a roadmap, and that it would be added if possible. I guess we'll know if there's an update to it.
