Filling forms ,surveys and questionnaires on iOS

Hello AppleVis members,

I was just wondering how to fill in forms efficiently with VoiceOver on iOS without having the issue where the submit button is dimmed because some required fields are not filled in properly.

This problem is really quite annoying, especially when I want to fill in multiple forms in a short period of time, only to be blocked from submitting one of them because I missed a question.

Does VoiceOver have any features where, when I click on a dimmed submit button, it will immediately tell me exactly which question I did not fill in? I am not talking about any specific form host in particular; I am talking in general about filling in online forms whether that’s google forms, Microsoft forms or survey monkey.

I don't think this is an option. Maybe if you go to the form and then tell Siri to describe your screen, there will be some visual indicator as to what part you didn't fill in. Otherwise I'm not sure. Note you need access to Apple intelligence to use that feature.

If there are form fields you are not sure are filled in, just choose form fields on the iOS rotor. You can always just go through quickly before trying to submit and see if there are any questions that were not answered before hitting submit. Of course, some of these survey platforms are stupid enough that the buttons are still dimmed out even when all of the information has been filled in. Some of them will still let you hit submit even if the button says "dimmed"; some will not.

Error identification through text, not just color, whether or not you are notified, focus issues, etc. are all down to how that website is coded. Take it up with the specific company involved. Be as specific as you can in your report. Perhaps record a video of the problem, including VoiceOver audio.
Several WCAG success criteria may be involved, which you can also mention if you are comfortable doing that. 3.3.1, 3.3.3, 3.3.4 etc. also perhaps 4.1.3
