If you go to this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/273947702950567 There's a heading that says, how can I report an issue using facebook and assistive techknoledgey or something like that, go to that heading and press enter/tap on it and fill out the form. i can't promice a change but it's better than nothing.

I do not use Facebook. I have allergies........ 😷
However, you could try to make an activity for Facebook to "ignore" images while using the app.
