Envision AI update just about breaks instant text

iOS and iPadOS

I am using an iPhone 12 pro with IOS 16.6.
Last week there was an update which now seems to require instant text to depend on an internet connection. Sadly my experience now is quite a chore when trying to scann with instant text as I get repetitive bursts of single words, little music tune playing, and then another phrase.
Before the update this feature was so accurate and quick I could use it to read the tiny screen on my radio to programming it. Or my remote controls.

I sswitched airplane mode on and had better results, but now I also get an error to the effect that some services require internet connection.

I have been in contact with the support team, but can't seem to get my point across to them.
It is my hope that if there are some of you here who are experiencing the same issue with instant text may be able to add your work arounds, or additional comments so we can get this resolved.

Hi Frank,

I'm Karthik, one of the developers of the Envision app. This seems to be a bug on our end that slipped through the cracks in our most recent update. We're pushing a fix for this on our end.

If you want to try the beta out you can sign up for it via TestFlight here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/QzPGfNeH

Watch out for version 3.2.4. If you don't want to use a beta, I'll update this thread when the production version goes out.

Thanks for getting back to us.
We truly consider this a valued application. I am not making this up. I use it at least 10 times a day and pretty much on instant text.
I can actually spin a can and figure out contents and directions etc.
Before this bug it had gotten so accurate and so simple to pin point stuff even in very small areas like eye drop bottles.
The oven timer, the thermostat, even the expiration date on a box which even other apps don't seem to catch... more's the pity.

Glad this is being resolved.

Cordially,

Frank.
