enhanced vs. premium voices

I've been playing around with the voices on my phone this morning. I'm currently using Ava premium, but to be honest, I can't really hear a difference between premium and enhanced.

Does anyone actually hear a difference? If so, please explain it because I don't get it.

Same here. Both are just OK.

It’s a very subtle audio difference. Premium voices are slightly clearer and have a little bit better addiction. It’s more obvious when you’re on a computer and you’re using the voices that they called compact and premium high. The ones on the phone are not the same as the ones in the computer. But basically the difference is that there’s a slightly clearer audio a bit better addiction and will be a little bit more expression. It’s not as easy to tell on the phones. The quality of the voices is not as good on there. We don’t have the premium have voices yet. I hope someday we get those. Right now I’m using the regular care invoice on both my devices. I hope that helps the easiest way to tell is if you play the Voice simple side-by-side. It’s a very, very different thought. I meant to say that I’m amazing regular Karen and my iPhone 15 and regular Samantha on my iPhone SE. So I hope hearing the sound sample side-by-side gives you an idea. It’s a very subtle difference.

As far as I know, premium is the new highest quality. Notice that the file sizes are smaller across the board compared to older versions of the same voice. As has already been said, it's a very subtle difference you may or may not be able to pick up on. I recommend listening to both for extended periods of time using a good pair of headphones to make up your mind which one you prefer.

You have to really listen closely, but there is a, very, subtle difference between the high-quality and premium voices. Nothing to write home about, unfortunately. 🙁

Nuts I wanted to write home about. Sad. I use my speekers in my phone and only use iPad pro 2 when I go out.

Did you catch the 17E podcast by Michael Hanson? Where he shows a comparison of the speakers on the iPhone 17E and the iPhone 17 Pro Max?
I was almost tempted to get myself an iPhone 17 E, just for the speaker system... almost. 🤯

18 pro max. Hope is much better. Probably be $100 extra from the 17 pro max. Nuts.

Even going back to old school realspeak solo direct and vocalizer automotive I've never liked them. I was glad when eloquence was made available on iOS. I can run it a higher speed and it doesn't become a jumbled mess. And yes a higher speed makes a difference because you can get more done faster. But as far as vocalizer goes Ava is the only one I can use that doesn't sound like crap.

That’s so funny. It’s just the opposite for me. I was so happy to use vocalizer voices and it was so sad when eloquence came to iOS. I was hoping I was going to get rid of that synthesizer forever. Now it’s the default in jaws and it’s available on the iPhones. But hey, everybody has their own preferences. I’m actually using regular voices in my phone right now. Because the higher quality voices seem to have issues with putting inflections in incorrect places while they read. They’re also not as even ever reading. So because the inflections are a natural, they tend to do not read things as evenly and it sounds less like how person would read. It sounds more obvious that it synthesized in a way. So the regular vocalizer voices tend to read things more naturally in a sense of how a person would put inflections because they don’t put them in strange places. On the computer with windows it’s a different story. I use the premium high voices. I wish we had those for the phones, but we don’t. I may switch back to something in a premium form on the phone at some point, but I’m not sure yet. Right now I’m using regular care on my iPhone 15 and regular Samantha on my iPhone SE.

I like the inflection of Eloquence, in that you can tell if someon says good morning with an exclamation mark vs. good morning with just a period. It doesn't have the same inflection with question marks, though, the way Alex does. But it's easy to understand at faster rates. I think after a while I just need to hear something different and I get sick of hearing it.

I actually physically will get headaches from listening to eloquence. That’s kind of one of the other reasons that I stopped using it. I grew up with it and it was fine when it was like the only of the size in jaws, but as soon as the vocalizer voices became responsive enough to use the job, I’ve been using those as my default synthesizer. I use Karen premium high on my laptop. I’m just glad that we have so many options available for people because we all have our own speech preferences
