Emoji picker is a disaster on IOS no matter what version

I'm on a bit of a rant so please, don't ell me you might not have this frustration. Moving on. I just spent at least five minutes trying to selecting the woman face palming emoji. I know the frequently used changed based on what you use. but between almost inserting ones I didn't want, and having a problem navigating the pages, here's my solution. I find the pickers to adjust easier. yes, there are so many this may not be an option. maybe a radio button for category like now but then sub radio buttons for say hand gestures or occupations or whatever. Obviously, my idea isn't perfect. am i alone in finding it a little challenging to select the right one? I emailed the person who developed rocket, I love it, and suggested him to make an app. I'm not expecting anything. he said he would look into it. I also would love other emoji, not from apple's ecosystem be able to be described. Ok rant over. Oh and I did find the face palm.

I do like the descriptions they've put in, plus my boyfriend thinks it's fabulous to kick my ass when we text. Trust me, it's all I can do to keep up. At least I'm not alone though.

Do you also have any problems with voice over freezing when you look for a choice.

Hi,
I use the gboard app. Once you download it, you can it as a third party keyboard and use it anywhere. You can search for emogies, and it's quite fast to find the one you want that way, for instance you could type in the search box for emogies and gifs woman facepalming, and Bam! find it in the emogies and gifs results and that's it.

I've coded in my most frequently used emoji in MBraille. Then I have character codes for them, like "EMS" for smiling face with squinting eyes etc. When I have to use the emoji keyboard, I usually switch off touch typing so I can also swipe between emoji.

I agree with this so very much. I rarely use emogis, which I'm sure is part of the problem, but if I did want to use one, finding it would be a pain in the tail. I think there was a situation last week where I was looking for a specific emogi, but I never found what I was looking for and ended up abandoning the idea. If anyone has tips or tricks for navigating groups of emogis, I'd love to hear them.

An other trick you can use is make a siri shortcut with a menu for your favorite emoji. I have the shortcut, but I'm not sure if it's in the shortcuts gallery. If not, I can post it here if needed.

I agree, sub catagories would be nice because sometimes it's hard to find which one fits what category.

I usually just use the emoji replacement option that shows up in the VO rotor. I type my message with BSI and include words that I want turned into emojis. Then when I switch to the emoji keyboard, I can use the rotor and flick down through words that it thinks I want to replace with an emoji. If there's more than one emoji that would fit it, double tapping it brings up a list I can choose from. sometimes it doesn't find one though, so I have to go through them on the keyboard and put them in that way which can be very overwhelming. I agree there.

That may be, in your case, pretty useful. But I'm not entirely sure if the emojis in the third-party keyboards are even described. I might be a little (or a lot) biased considering that I only use the stock keyboard. I do, however, hate when VO freezs when I'm trying to find an emoji. Or, in some casescases, when trying to swipe between pages of emojis, VO keeps typing random emojis when I'm trying to type. Normally this would be an easy fix, go to the typing rotor and change it to "standird" typing and move along, except I despise standird typing as it messes with the windows I'm in, because the iPhone 6s that I use has a weird glitch where switching between ANY rotor will cause it to freeze. I will try the Google Keyboard and report back on my experience.
