Is anyone else having trouble with email notifications? I get notifications for text messages and everything else, but I’m not getting alerts for new emails. I’ve tried changing the notification sound, and I even resorted to logging out of my email account from the Apple Mail app, and signing back in, and I’m still not getting notifications.

For me, it’s been that way for years
I haven’t been able to make email notifications worked for a very long time. I tried removing and adding them back… It worked for a couple of times and it went right back to not giving me notifications. The only times I get notifications is when I go into a specific email and get mail for a folder… Like the sent mail folder… Then I will get the notification, other than that I don’t get any. I too, would like to find a way to make this work again.
check what is enabled?
Have you checked to see if...
1. The notifications for mail are enabled on the lock screen.
2. Banner notifications are selected and/or enabled.
I do get the sounds, but I have chosen to only receive badges, meaning I only see the number of new items on the app label itself.
Just some thoughts.
Push vs Fetch
Hi,
You may not receive notifications about new emails if your device is not actively connected to wifi, a power source and charging. If any of the above conditions aren't met, your device will only check to see if you have new messages at a set interval, I think it might be every half an hour to an hour. Otherwise, if your device is plugged in, they should arrive fairly quickly.
To double check, you can go to settings>mail>accounts>fetch new data. Make sure that push is enabled, and be sure to check the fetch timer below.
I hope this helps.
Try these steps
1. Go to Settings > Notifications. Double tap on Mail.
2. At the bottom is a button labeled 'Customize Notifications'. Double tap here.
3. In this screen, double tap each mail account and enable 'Alerts', 'Sounds', and 'Banners'.
HTH. 😀
It’s finally working
I had the notifications turned on, but I didn’t know about the customized notifications if that makes any sense. I tried the steps you recommended and it’s finally working. Thanks for the help.

Glad to help. 😃
Is there a way to get rid of Apple Mail and just use Outlook, al
Hello,
Is there a way to get rid of the Apple Mail app and just use Microsoft Outlook ... for both sending and receiving mail? I have Outlook as wel and think it's better although you must type in your contact/s to mail. With Apple mail, you just pick from those in your contacts/why couldn't you just do this from the contacts app in the phone app?

Putting a gmail account on, too?
Hello,
In the Outlook app I have, of course, through Microsoft, is there a way to put a gmail account on the phone as well, of course not through the Outlookk app but through settings and the mail accounts? If I remember right, there is a way!
Mail
Not sure if you can remove the app completely from your iPhone. I know there are number of apps you can safely remove, just not sure about mail. All I can suggest is to try and see what happens.
If you have your Rotor set to allow editing the Home Screen, then just flick up on the Mail icon on your home screen, double tap edit, and go from there.
Alternatively, you can, as I understand it, go to Settings > Mail, and remove whatever accounts you have associated with it.
Regarding Gmail. Yes you can add Google, Exchange, and several other web-based email accounts to the Mail app. However, if you do not want to use the Mail app at all, then you can try deleting the app as I suggested above, or you can follow the steps above for removing the app, but just choose to remove from the Home Screen. This will put the app in the App Library, but otherwise 'hide' it from view.
HTH. 😅
Okay, so still not getting notification sounds for incoming mail
Hello,
I'm stil not getting my notifications for incomnig mail from either outlook or the mail app itself. I currently have my phone face down on my desk, so does that do something such as silence notifications from speaking? I've noticed this a lot, and it's cool at times! all my mail stuff is set to sounds and basges I believe. I'll just stic with the dratted mail app although I'd like to only use Outlook. the reason is, on the bottom of the mail thing, I might see, "Drafts: there is one draft in progress," and it's hard to delete/might keep coming back. I realize why to keep mail, though/for iCloud accounts--don't think you can add those to Microsoft Outlook? If not, that's okay!
Some answers
Regarding the iPhone being face down. As I understand it, this silences notifications. Always, unless something has recently changed. . . .
Regarding Outlook, you can use it as your default email client. I actually forgot about this feature, until I looked it up. . . 😅
1. Download/install Outlook from the App Store.
2. Once installed, open your iPhone Settings > Outlook. Depending on your apps, you may be scrolling for a bit.
3. Inside the Outlook settings there (should) be an option to make Outlook your default email client.
From this point on, opening email links from messages, the inter webs, etc should open up Outlook. You will still have to manually add your email credentials into Outlook directly, but hey, you wanted Outlook, right? 😝
