Editing and saving text files with bt keyboard on my phone?

Hi folks,
I am attending a songwriting retreat. Generally when I do these I do more playing and relaxing because it's difficult to cart a laptop ETC. around and most people just have a pad and pencil. But I really want to try and work on some stuff.
So I've gotten a small bluetooth keyboard. I'm quickly realizing that just because I know NVDA, doesn't mean I can actually use this keyboard to type and edit lyrics on my phone.

So I have some questions.
1. What editor do you recommend?
2. Can that editor open and save text documents to my onedrive? I want to be able to access them on my pc when I get home.

I downloaded Subtext which I've heard is good, but I'm not sure how to save files there, and I'm not sure if I can edit and save files I open from my onedrive.

Any help you can give is much appreciated.

Rusty

Often iOS apps, if they have keyboard functionality, mimic the Mac. cmd-s should be save.

If you can't save directly to 1Drive, I haven't used Subtext so I'm not sure where it can save, if you go into the Files app and find your text files, you can double tap and hold, pick share, and it should be in there, unless you need to add it as a service first. I don't have it on the phone so I can't help there.

In general, any app that has access to the wider iOS files system can save to OneDrive. To do so, install the OneDrive app andloc in, then open Apple’s Files app. From there, make sure you're viewing the sidebar in the Browse tab and click More, then Edit. Tick OneDrive, then click Done. You should now be able to access your OneDrive files from your Files app.
As for finding a suitable app to write text in: subtext is fine and dandy as a text editor, but if you want something a little more fancy then Pages is always an option. Perhaps Drafts works too? Can’t rememberif that one can save externally... There are more options, but really the best ones I can think of can only save to iCloud. That is unless you're already an emacs user in which case you could use an app for org mode on iOS which typically let you sync with external services.
In terms of keyboard support, it’s the inevitable truth thats it’s not going to be as good as a macOS counterpart as far as dedicated keyboard shortcutsgo, though ofo course you’ll always be able to edit text and move your cursor since that’s an OS thing. It’s a shame that my favourite writing app ulysses doesn’t support external saving, since it's incredibly accessible and keyboard-driven.

So, what I'm finding is that the apps I download can open a text document from Onedrive just fine, but when I save, it doesn't seem to sync to OneDrive so then when I open it on the PC my edits aren't there. I wonder if there's a setting I'm missing.

What apps are you using, and how are they accessing OneDrive? Are they using the Apple Files integration I mentioned before or do they have a dedicated OneDrive integration?
