Any idea how to lower and raise volume on the earpiece? I press the buttons to do that but they do nothing.

Apple, as part of its frills, does not allow us to control playback through the headset if they are not manufactured by the company or if they are not Bluetooth...

Annoyingly, they still haven’t sorted this issue out. I’ve got a small workaround, dial the number as usual but hold it away from you and then try and turn the volume up or down and then once you have a desirable volume then bring it closer to your ear. although this doesn’t always work.

Bare with me, when it was IOS6 or something, everyone heard the notification sounds in their ears, loud AF. We in gneral, complained, Apple turned it down. Here's an experiment, I'll use popcorn for the example. Any ring tone or alert tone will work for this. This happens with any sound FYI. Open the sound settings, or failing that, any contact, say Dad. Press Popcorn, the sound, maxed at 100% volume is, ok. Right? then turn off voice over completely, using the side button. Push Popcorn or any other tone, ring or alert. The sound is much better and louder. apple needs to fix this. so your ear piece issue is blamed on them, and those who hated the loud sound, so they turned it down to much. Now yes, I had it and it was annoying, but I can live with it. This might also explain audio ducking, something i am not a fan of and wish it was the dodo bird lmao

This is what I do when I want to adjust the volume on the earpiece. This usually will work for me. I make or answer a call, and take the phone away from my ear. This will put it in speaker mode. Unlock the phone and then put it back to your ear. You should then be able to adjust the volume using the volume buttons.

I have been playing with my iPhones earpiece volume since I had an iPhone 3GS.
It is definitely a tenuous endeavor and a little tricky to play with.
First, if you were using voiceover and adjusting voiceover volume voiceover needs to be speaking while you are adjusting that volume
If you are having trouble with Siri volume you need to activate Siri and adjust the volume.
There are definitely other issues like when trying to press buttons on your keypad while you’re on the phone sometimes that volume is very low and hard to hear
I have found if you plug headsets into the phone using wire and you’re trying to adjust the headset volume that sometimes helps make the keyboard volume louder.
Good luck, because it is an ongoing endeavor to adjust the iPhone volume.

I've been having this problem, but it's hit and miss. Sometimes I can adjust the volume while in a call, other times I can't. Yesterday I couldn't, and it was driving me crazy because my friend is sick and literally can't talk very loudly.
