Hi folks! I'm debating whether I should get an iPhone 14 Pro in order to take advantage of Door Detection and Object Detection. I have heard just one demonstration of Door Detection in a recent podcast, where Jonathan Mosen walked around his house using Door and Object Detection on his iPhone 13 Pro Max, as the iPhone 14 Pro wasn't out at the time of the recording.
So, I'd be very interested in anyone who has tried Door Detection and Object Detection letting me know how fast it is and how accurate it is. It probably performs best on a 14 Pro, but they've only been out for a few days now.
I've heard some people say it is too slow and can't identify objects fast enough and can't report on objects you encounter at a walking pace. Some people say it mis-identifies objects; one person told me that it said there was a table in the middle of a street. Also, from what little I've heard, the technology is very much a work in progress, especially when you use it outside, where there are so many other objects to identify. Another person told me it identified an elevator in the middle of a parking lot, but did not identify a car driving by or a dumpster just sitting there.
Anyway, any feedback you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Door Detection
I tried Door Detection last week and it was pretty accurate. I was walking by a bunch of doors to find a restaurant Denise and I wanted to go to. That door we needed was not labeled as the restaurant, only elevator, so you get to the restaurant that way. When I walked by the other doors, it read them off like a sighted person saw them. In July, I used it to detect a doctor's office door in a building that had multiple offices in it. It worked pretty well for this being in Beta. I have not played with Object or Person yet.
Yes, it is a work in progress like all tech is. I would recommend pulling the trigger and getting the Pro or Pro Max. it can only get better from here. You may be better than I using it.

He did a demo on it. Check his podcast. It was interested, will not use it. Been blind for a long time and did not needed and will not do now. I am sure some might.
I was not all that impressed…
I was not all that impressed with the demo in that podcast, nor the little bit I got to play with it on someone's 13PM.
You don't need a pro to use image detection, though the Lit-ar scanner might improve things. I walked around my apartment with the image descriptions on, and it gave me multiple different descriptions even when Just standing and pointing my camera at something. My next phone will probably be a Pro because of features like these, but it wasn't enough to make me want to part with my 12 mini any time soon.

how do i get around me described with image detection on an iphone 13 mini that i now have?
Mini
Do not think it works for it. Only pro phones.
