I commented on another conversation about how the one finger double tap and the two finger double tap for starting/stopping dictation is not consistent. Usually in the native mail app or the text messages app, using IOS 16 for the past 1.5 months on an iPhone 13. If I use the one finger double tap on the dictation button at the bottom right hand corner of the screen, sometimes a one finger double tap will stop dictation. Yet other times a two finger double tap, the magic tap, will stop dictation. Once I am reviewing the text that I have just dictated, 95% of the time the text is double. In other words, the text that I just have dictated is stated again word for word a second time. Sometimes I will delete the second occurrence of the message and then send the text or email. Sometimes I am just lazy and won't. There are no extra gestures, no taps on the screen, no touches of the screen, nothing that would cause the double text. I have reported this to Apple, but they are not sure what is causing this issue. I am curious if others are experiencing the double dictation issue?
TIA

Yep I have it also
I get the bug but fortunately people understand.
bug
It comes and goes. Is nuts. No consistency regarding the bug. Apple what can you say! Maybe by 2100 the issue would be fix!
The dictation bug is too real
Dictation has definitely gone downhill for sure. I have friends who don't know how to use technology very well, no matter how hard they try, or they have multiple disabilities which prevent them from typing on the touchscreen. It's not their fault. They're not lazy, so I am not going to criticize anyone for not wanting to type. I understand that not everyone has access to a Bluetooth keyboard, or are able to use other forms of input methods such as typing, or using the Braille screen input Feature on the iPhone. Sometimes, it's the double dictation, or it usually gets 90% of what you say wrong anyway. At that point, it's more efficient to type it out. Depending on the nature of the conversation, maybe it's best to also try communicating using short voice messages.
There is also this weird bug where voiceover seems to pick up random snippets of text from other applications or the device in general. You could be typing in a text field, and VoiceOver keeps saying; (logo, open Safari, image may contain sunflowers), or whatever pieces of text it manages to collect on its journey. Even when you turn off the image descriptions, text recognition, scene descriptions, and all the other features relating to artificial intelligence and recognition, it still does this for some strange reason. I've gotten tired of talking to Apple. I've sent in multiple screen recordings of the issue many times, and, there is still no adequate resolution to the problem. This makes it even harder to type on the device, because you're constantly being distracted by other information in the form of unwanted text. It's terribly frustrating, and makes life inconvenient when you're in a hurry. I don't know what to do. It's out of my hands, but i'm hoping for positive changes in the future regarding this issue.
Confirmed
Hi. I'm experiencing the same issue on my iPhone 12 with 16.2. I delete the double.
