Cursor focus issues with iPhone8

Hi,

When I try typing in to edit fields using my iPhone 8 running IOS 13.3.1 the focus keeps moving, particuarly frustrating when trying to fill in passwords. So as I type I get voiceover msgs sayng insertion point has moved or the insertion point has changed.
Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on and how I can fix this?

This has been happening across several versions of IOS 13 and not just the latest iteration of the software.

Kind regards

Graham

hello Graham. Slide to type and 3D Touch are the culprits, but they are easily turned off in settings. They are on by default, and each one of them causes these behaviors with the on-screen keyboard. Just turn them both off in settings and you should be good to go. slide to type is under general under keyboard, and 3D Touch is under accessibility under touch. this was the first thing I learned when I first got my iPhone 8 about a month ago.

Hi Josh,

That worked a treat, it was the 3D touch which was causing the issue. Funnily enough I have this turned on for my iPhone10X Max and it doesn't cause the same problems. Thanks for the solution it was much appreciated.

All the best

glad I could help. if you want to use 3D Touch on your iPhone 8, you could turn it back on in settings, then select firm under sensitivity. You may still have some issues with the keyboard, but you can try it. if you don't use slide to type you should always have it turned off because it causes the same types of behavior with the keyboard.
