I hope this app improves. I don't wear makeup due to the fact I'm afraid I'll overdo it or make myself look terrible. If there is an app that can assist with this, I might consider at least a little light makeup, because like it or not, as we age the skin just doesn't look as good as it once did.

Anyone still using this app? Might need it for some simple things.

I will definitely check this out. I didn't even know this existed. I hope they can make the app more accurate with different contrasts.

I’m just genuinely curious how somebody who is totally blind might actually be somewhat interested in makeup because we’re not going to see how we actually look with it on? Not saying that nobody can or should have interest in this. I’m just wondering how some of us do and some of us don’t because I literally could care less about any of that. I actually did have like one occasion where I did have to wear like stage makeup because I am a singer and I was performing on stage and stuff I had to be in like a fancy gown and wear stage makeup and I absolutely hated it. It just felt super uncomfortable as it was being applied stuff like that I just didn’t like anything about it so I’m just wondering like like I said just how you get any kind of interest and stuff like that and we were not gonna be able to see ourselves and then we know yeah OK I can tell you if your room had enough blending or not but I’m just wondering I guess how we could make sense out or something like that I could totally see this for somebody who may be used to be able to see what they look like in Nino have like a memory of what that might look like, but yeah, I know I’m totally just asking out a genuine curiosity. I’m not trying to like be rude here at all asking this. Also I can’t believe that we literally found a thinking three-year-old post and we’re still asking about it it’s pretty awesome. Hey I hope whoever gets this now. I hope it has improved and that you guys you know you find it enjoyable and everything. I’m just like literally just trying to understand that’s all I’m sure there’s something here that makes sense that I’m just not seeing no pun intended, but I was just asking out a genuine curiosity. OK, I get that like as far as how you present yourself obviously that doesn’t matter and for the kind of singing I’m doing I did have to wear that kind of clothes because a classical singer and that’s the kind of stuff you have to wear so I understand like occasion, appropriateness, and stuff like that, but I don’t feel any kind of special way at all when I wear like any kind of fancy gown or fancy or shoes or anything. I’m literally just like get this crappy clothes off of me as soon as I get home because I hate these, I mean, granted address is comfortable for what it was. It was probably the most comfortable kind of formal thing I could’ve had so it’s comfortable for what it is, but I just hate like wearing that stuff in general cause it’s just so much harder for me to like move around and everything with so I just like literally could not wait to get that off. And the other thing was I had to wear these like not very big heels but for me they were because I’m not used to wearing those kinds of things so I was like literally ready to take those kind of shoes off too so was she like not really fun the performing part is fun but having to wear the formal clothes and stage makeup and stuff yeah not great yeah I mean like I’m willing to do that because I know that that’s you know what I had to do with the time that I was doing that kind of performing so like you know, I know that that’s what’s required and I’m willing to do it, but I don’t like it and I made that like super cleared in my voice teacher. I was just like look I will do that because that’s what you need me to do for this, but I don’t like it. Yeah I would imagine that stage makeup is different than everyday makeup. I think for me I look at it is like oh you know that’s literally one extra thing for me to have to think about getting ready in the morning and like one extra thing for me to have to keep up with that you know because I live on my own I literally wouldn’t be able to do without a phone app I guess which could maybe help me and maybe not and I don’t have any way to verify that with a side person before I leave my house so there’s kind of that too but yeah I mean hey if you guys are interested in it kudos have fun. I think it’s awesome. That stuff like that exists for people that are into that and I get what you’re saying to old bear about it being like art cause that makes a lot of sense I mean that thoroughly why people have like tattoos and stuff too. You know it’s like body art expressing yourself and whatever I get that again. Something else I wouldn’t necessarily be interested in but hey it’s cool. I totally make sense. Thanks for answering. I am totally off for self expression. Very cool. And yes, you’re right. You do have to adjust certain stance for singing. And yeah, you are not great. And I don’t even wear that ones that are that big. I have really small feet too, so it was really hard to even find like the right size shoes for me. Yeah, I’ve heard about that as far as the way that like makeup can show attention to different things or different things or whatever like I get those terms as far as that, I’ve heard it before, but it still doesn’t make any intellectual sense to me as far as you know the visual concepts of it if that makes any sense. I mean, it’s just I guess because I’ve literally had no vision at all so I have no visual memory so I don’t really know what the reference of any of that would be, but I do know kind of about that concept if that makes any sense that’s pretty cool but you like to braid your hair and everything very cool ponytails all that awesome I could never wear tattoos though just saying like needles and stuff no thanks I’m good. I would never tell anybody else not I actually don’t know if any blind people that have any tattoos as far as I know can help with stuff like that too or is it just for makeup? I mean, obviously somebody is administering the tattoo. I mean, you have to go to a place to do it, but I was thinking like you know a certain places where you have to kind of like cover the tattoos and stuff they would have to like the app would have to tell you that too I would think but yeah this is such a cool topic. I don’t know when they hold this app works for you everybody on here that wants to try it I can’t believe that we found this post in three years ago and we’re still talking about it today. It’s kind of awesome. I hope it will do everything you guys need to do.

Yeah, it’s definitely hard for me to understand things that I’ve never seen. Cause there really isn’t tactual equivalent for a color and shades and stuff like that that would translate the same way so yeah but it’s cool. Yeah I mean tattoos aren’t tactical either from what I’ve been told, I don’t think I would ever get one or anything, but yeah I’m not a fan of people putting needles in me. Thanks but yeah different hairstyles is cool. I’ve already decided a long time ago. I’m not going to color my hair ever I’m just gonna let it go bro. Natural whatever I don’t wanna have to keep up with all that stuff either cause you have to keep doing it once you start so yeah definitely not getting my hair colored plus I’m probably gonna stay a ton of money that way. Lol I actually do think nail polish is pretty cool but because I’ve never been able to apply it myself I’ve given up on wearing it. I always liked the shiny glass feel of it once it was dried, but I don’t feel like sitting there now waiting for my nails to dry and then have the stuff chip and have to redo it again and everything and like I said, I would need assistance with that anyways as they were like wouldn’t be able to paint my own nails so yeah, kind of give up on that too. Plus, I don’t want like a little bit of polish getting onto my piano keys trust me that is a thing I had this Music teacher in elementary school or her nails were so long they always clicked on the piano keys and there was always this red nail polish that would be coming off under the keyboard, I only know that because my sister told me to yeah I don’t want that to be a thing plus, I cannot stand like my nails clicking on the keyboard so I have to keep my nails like super short, but it’s easier to read Braille that way when they’re short, so yeah OK I know why I got on that because of the nail polish but yeah, I always thought that like polished nails look really cool and even though those like acrylic nails they look really cool, but I could never have those. I was trying to say I’m going to let my hair go gray. I guess I’ll be able to save a ton of money that way by not coloring my hair. Lol.

My ex is totally blind, has been totally blind for nearly 3 decades, and low vision for the majority of her life.
She wears makeup on special occasions. Mascara, lipstick, sometimes light blush. She also taught herself how to dye her own hair. Without having dye all over her face or behind her ears or the back of her neck. Don't ask me how, because I have no idea how she managed that, her current significant other is cited though, so he is able to tell her if she missed a spot, but otherwise she does it all on her own.

Yeah, this thread is really fun. Hey Brian, I have a really great answer as to how your ex used to be able to color her hair. She had low vision for most of her life and it’s only been completely blind for about 30 years. So any kind of visual memory that she has now is from the years that she had any kind of vision at all. I think you might understand this part because you used to have vision yourself. You got a lot of visual memory to work with and I’m sure she probably does too. Because although there’s varying degrees of visual impairment, anybody with any tiny bit of vision is going to have more of a memory of what they used to have versus somebody who’s never had any. If I were going to try to color my hair, I wouldn’t even know where the spots were or anything was filled in any of that because I have no visual memory to go on at all or any references or vision to color or anything so that’s really like at least you know real practical answer I guess but yeah I mean I’m kind of same situation as old bear. I don’t live with anybody either so there really isn’t anybody to tell me if I’ve missed things or not and yeah it really can’t do that part as far as telling you if you’re going through the right look that you’re going for I know that was already pointed out on here, so there’s definitely like still somewhat limitations to the technology because we’re not really quite there to the point that like our technology you can literally answer all our questions without needing a side human for a lot of it. I mean, hey I hope someday we can get to that point but we’re just not there yet. Look I think it’s pretty awesome that anybody can do any of this even with low vision and the people that are totally blind that are interested in that good have fun. Enjoy it. As far as like my nails yeah I probably wouldn’t be able to apply that stuff myself. it would go like everywhere so it’s kind of why I haven’t bothered anymore but it’s cool. Hey old bear just a genuine question if you haven’t had your haircut for that many years, do you get a lot of headaches cause you have so much weight your hair or is it because you put your hair up in different styles that you wouldn’t really notice that? My hair is just kind of like below, my ears, not even touching my shoulders because I could just never marriage a long hair. I had a really long hair with a kid when I was younger, but I could never manage that myself. It was always taken care of for me so now I just keep it really short, but that’s awesome. I wanna spend time and taking care of all of that and you know when you get pleasure out of it and go for it. I do have a question at a genuine curiosity though. For anybody on here whose previously had vision is it a strange experience to have had a time in your life when you can see yourself in a mirror and then all of a sudden not be able to anymore I mean that’s gotta be such a jarring experience to know that you used to be able to see what you look like and then you know now you have to kind of guess what you’re looking like you know getting ready and stuff like that I mean like that’s just a curiosity question don’t feel like you know obligated to answer that, but I just I’ve never even really thought about it until we had this topic come up so yeah, but this girl is awesome info coming in here. Ya, I do miss looking in the mirror. I did that sometimes as a kid and arranged my hair and things like that, even outfits.
My hair grows to about mid back and that is it, so not so heavy. Can get a little heat-trapping in the summer though. Not sure what I would do if it was so long that it did get heavy, maybe a ponytail or braid and roll it up to rest in the hood of a hoodie if not in the mood for stacking it on my head or something like that, but that's mostly genetics for hair length.
Earrings are another expression for me. I have this rotating rack of them, and it's like a whole morning ritual of picking out which ones to wear for the day lately. Wore bear claw earrings, silver with turquoise, when I went down to vote. I wear some other jewelry, like a necklace or bracelet or both sometimes, but those can get in the way.
I can imagine myself looking in the mirror as sighted and having to keep changing earrings because it's not what I feel like wearing. LOL Those get described in Seeing AI, so that is one thing, or I could send it over to Gemini if Seeing AI won't answer my questions right when I'm trying to get a certain look. Over in the censorship thread, I remember comparing the camera to my mirror, but it can be a little more with the AI descriptions, like another opinion or something, and I do ask those questions when I'm working on an outfit now.

I wanted to see if that app worked here in the states yet a while back at one point i was looking into it and it wasn't available here yet. but now that it is, i may take a look. hmm. good thinking. well dang. lets see. that is interesting. I may look into it if i get some makeup. not sure yet. thanks for recommending it. and reminding us of it. I used to wear a little blush and lipstick eye shadow that kinda thing, that was about it, not much more. so yeah. I know what that's about. hmm, as far as not understanding it, I get that.

Hey, I’m glad that you like jewelry for expressing yourself too. Very cool. I wear zero jewelry. I just feel that it gets in my way. And also just feels like extra textured things that kind of feel funny on me. Like heck I don’t even wear a watch anymore. So yeah the only jewelry if you want to count, it is jewelry but I ever wear is once a year. I have a jingle Bell Christmas necklace. But that’s it and I only wear that cause my aunt gave it to me and we have matching necklaces and it jingles. But that thing gets taken off me as soon as I’m done going to any holiday parties or anything. Look, I know it’s not the same thing. I like looking at earrings on people and bracelets and necklaces and rings and all that, but I won’t wear them.

I have literally one ring right now just my class high school ring and that was only because all my friends got one. I don’t ever wear it. I could never wear rings I get away on my piano keyboard. They click it and make me crazy. I love looking at earrings on other people. I just can’t wear them myself. I don’t have any ear piercings or any other piercings for that matter.

I like to hear everybody else’s perspective too. It’s pretty cool to hear from people that used to see. It’s just so different and it’s very interesting. Had given among totally blind people from birth. It’s probably different. I mean we’re all just people we’re gonna have our different experiences in effective. I love this thread.

I used the app. I tried to make an app review, but it doesn't seem to be on the site. No matter. It did work. The lighting has to be bright and right behind the phone or near you. It checks foundation, lip coverage and the eyeshadow. The eyeshadow is what I had difficulty with, and I'll need to learn how to adjust that.
The blush is not part of what it checks, so you'll need to use some other AI chat or describer to check that.
