Hi everybody.
I'm reading a text file that uses characters as separators. So every once in a while VDR will just be going "underscore underscore underscore ..." Is there any way to change that? I added punctuation to the rotor on the off chance that it was using Vo's settings, but it doesn't, which is what I thought. I don't see anything in the app's settings to do it.
Obviously if there's no way to change it I'll just have to put up with it, unless anybody has another reading app recommendation. But I was under the impression VDR is pretty well liked. Other than this issue, it's doing pretty well for me so far.

Same, Except in My Case, I Need to Hear +, -, / Etc.
Timely post! I'm looking for this level of control as well.
I was recently reading a product manual and needed to hear plus, minus, greater-than and less-than, Etc.
If VDR can't do this, can someone recommend another app to read PDF's?
The only thing this app…
The only thing this app seems to have is the pronounciation dictionary, which you get to from audio settings. For the original poster, just setting underscore to be pronounced as space should do it, I think.
I'm not really sure it'd help in the second case, since you'd have to add all the punctuation you needed, and then probably delete it again, since I doubt you'd want it spoken all the time, ☺️.
Not really sure what I'd suggest for a PDF manual, honestly. Maybe if you want to keep using Voice Dream try switching from plain text to rich text in visual settings so you can at least see the page you're reading with VO so you can use standard VO browsing techniques to see the punctuation.
BTW, both audio and visual settings can only be seen while actually looking at a document.
