Chat Gpt 4o update

Hey guys! Hoping you’re all well.
So I don’t know if someone has already brought this up, but just wanted to share this since I haven’t seen any post talking about this recently. So I am a Chat Gpt plus subscriber and I constantly keep checking on the app because like a lot of us, I am eagerly waiting to see the new update for Chat Gpt 4o so I constantly keep checking the app to see if there’s any new changes.
And I noticed the other day when you go into the voice mode within the regular chat gpt 4 if you press the button that says more info, at the top of the voice screen within the current voice mode, now you get an updated message that says: an update to advance voice mode: We are taking additional time to reach our bar for launch and will begin the alpha with a small group of Plus users in late July. We plan for all Plus users to have access in the fall, and will let you know when you have access.

This is the new updated message that I get now. Before it would just say: a new voice mode is coming soon.
So I just wanted to share this information to see what you guys think? What are your opinions or comments about this?

It's always great to hear from others who are just as eager and attentive about these developments as me. I completely understand your anticipation – the promise of advanced voice mode has me checking the app frequently too.
It's encouraging to see the transparency from Open AI about taking additional time to perfect the new features. I appreciate their commitment to quality, even though the wait is can be .
What excites me the most about the advanced voice mode is the potential for more natural and engaging interactions. I'm curious, how do you all think this update will enhance your usage of the app?
Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!

Cancelled my subscription. They wanted to grab the headlines before google despite the technology not being ready. I don't think they're a trustworthy company.

It is an exciting concept, but until it's in our hands, with all the false positives and issues that it will bring, it's just that, a concept.

So, as you can probably guess, I'm feeling quite cynical about Open AI and I'm looking forward to those developers who don't make hollow promises. I dislike those who over promise and under deliver. Apple, for the most part, has always stuck to the under promising and over delivering. A little humility goes a long way in the tech world.

What is advanced voice mode supposed to do? I've seen videos on it, but I'm not sure I completely understand. Our members on the free plan going to get limited usage, similar to what we have now?

By Ollie on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

No, it will first roll out to those on the plus plan. It's basically a live stream using video and audio to chat GPT so, instead of taking a picture and asking it a question in the rather awkward way we do now, it is all inter-grated so you can just hold up your phone and say something like, describe this or, can you see where I've dropped my keys, etc. it's an exciting prospect for us for obvious reasons though I think we should temper our expectations both with release and functionality.

As I understand it, it takes two pictures a second and, assuming it is analysing each one, I imagine this is a fair amount of server load, hence having to be on the paid plan, for now. I imagine it will come to the free plan in the future. Still, £20 a month for an AI who can see and help seems fairly cheap. I'm sure there will be many posts when they release it... In 2026.

You're quite right. I forgot about that. I think there must be some back end deal for Be My Eyes having access to the API for free.

Again, the factor here is time. I suspect that the roll out has been hampered by the upscaling of data centres.

We can only hope that, in time, this tech makes its way to wearables. The meta Ray-ban form factor and potential is bang on. The ai is an idiot though and useless for all but the most trivial of tasks.

Lol I just find your comment super funny. Google has been showing off features for 2 years now in the IO conference that no one has seen. Calm down Open AI will deliver soon enough.

By Brad on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

I agree with you. Open AI was amazing but then they messed up by not listening to that woman who voiced Her in that movie I forget the name of, is it just called Her, i don't know.

I'll use it with BeMyEyes but I'm hoping something else comes along.

This is the problem with these companies, they get to full of themselves and then stuff like this happens.

By DMNagel on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

I don't think we'll see any of this on the free plan. We don't even get limited gpt 4 usage.

By Winter Roses on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

So, I think that you get a limit of 10 or 20 messages that reset after a set timeframe. Which version of chatGPT four is that based on currently? Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I can't afford to pay for The service, but when the new capabilities are on there, can someone please post some videos? US$20 for me is about $3000 in my currency

By Ollie on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

I believe you get 4o now on the free plan, but it is a much restricted version with a fifth of the requests of the paid plan.

You can take and process existing photographs on the free teir though, like any aspect of the chat, your request tokens are time limitted.

For what its worth, it's amazing that we get this for free! Just last year, the year before, this tech would have seemed magical but now, because of their premature demo, it's reduced the perceived value of the technology. Yes, we have access to something that is pretty miracculous, but we don't have the companion app we now crave, and won't for a long while. The fact it's already been delayed is suggestive that things will continue to be put back. A company more interested in grabbing headlines than getting to work and impressing that way, I think. It just lacks style, in my humble view.

I am using the free plan, and there is no evidence suggesting that we have access to GPT 4o. When using GPT plus, you have an option to choose between GPT models, but on the free plan there is no such option. The only way you get free GPT 4 access as far as I know, is through Be My AI.

By Gokul on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

while using the free version, we do have access to gpt4o.
1: We have an option to choose b/w gpt 3.5,4 and 4o.
2: We have options to connect with google drive, perform complex data analysis, and do a few other things not part of gpt 4.
3: you can ask the engine to permenantly remember something (say that your blind) and formulate responses accordingly, which is a 4o feature. the free accounts have access to this.
At least, this has been my experience while accessing the service from both a paid and a free account.

I just went to look again, and for the life of me, I can't find that option to select GPT models. So, unless it's not available in all countries, I just can't believe it. As for memory and data analysis, those are chat GPT 4 features, but not necessarily GPT 4 itself. Either it's not available in all countries, or someone need to tell me where exactly to go in order to find the model selection.

By Ollie on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

Don't smoke, it's terrible for you and makes you look silly...

Just looking in the chat GPT IOS app there is no way I can find of changing the model however, on the web version it is labelled as 4o. I think all chat gpt is now 4o. You should have access to adding attachments.

I'm certainly on 4o and am not paying for it. I'm in the UK, if region is indeed a factor.

It's very limited, but, yes. It's there. Does the memory feature actually work? I have memories on the app, but I don't necessarily see much of a difference, at least, not in terms of the context or reasoning. It seems to repeat a lot, or gets confused. Maybe it's because it's limited access? Intellectually, the reasoning seems to be more refined, but it's still choppy

By Ollie on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

I don't think memory applies to the free version. I've just had a poke around the settings and, when I was on plus, there was a section that held things it had remembered about our chats, but I can't seem to find it on the free version. If there are certain things you want it to remember, however, go into settings and customise and you can set specifics about what it knows about you and how you want it to respond. These settings are remembered.

I am really excited for this. I am a subscriber as well
It is so cool that Be My Eyes should have access to this as well. I wonder how Long a session will be able to be.
I would be surprised if it is completely unlimited on Be My Eyes as I keep on hearing how costly it is.

By Winter Roses on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

When I checked the app, I actually have memories that have been collected by the app. Why would they put it on the free plan if it's not supposed to be there, or it doesn't work? Maybe it only works when you're using it with the limited version of the GPT4 model that we're given.

By DMNagel on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

Most of the time, you have to directly ask it to add something to its memory.

By Winter Roses on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

If I know what I want, I can instruct the program to include it in my memory, and then make any revisions necessary. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be able to modify a memory, so you have to delete the duplicates if you don't want them anymore. However, if the memory bank gets full, You can't create any more memories, until you delete something. Anyway, let's say that you have a sufficient amount of memories, and they are specified to suit your purposes, in order to have the most up-to-date information regarding your preferences, does it actually work across your conversations? Shouldn't there be a difference? I don't think the artificial intelligence program is learning from me, which should be the point, within the parameters of the app, even on the free version. Sometimes, I might talk about topics, across multiple chats, but it's confusing, because I'm constantly having to write down the information. There should be an optional settings to be able to search across your conversations, and pull information from the chats that you have on the device, and the topics that you have already discussed. If not, I would at least like to have the option to archive or highlight important messages in a conversation for reference at a later point

By Gokul on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

Whatever you ask the bot to remember specifically (say you work in a factory) it does across all conversations. But a feature to pull info from an old convo to a new one is not yet onboard I guess.

By Winter Roses on Sunday, July 14, 2024 - 20:49

This is a longshot, but is there any way to provide this to the ChatGPT team for feedback? I don't think it's going to get anywhere, but if there is a way, then I would still like to try
