Hello!

How can I hide the chat favorites in Facebook messenger when I use voiceover?

It's a new feature that Facebook added to their app. If you can see something, it looks good and is quite useful. But I also prefer to use VoiceOver and then it makes the app somewhat inaccessible. Very annoying.

I first want to get a rant off my chest. I get annoyed with people who insist that I send them messages via an app that's not accessible. But ok, moving on...

The latest messenger update makes the favourites readable again. But I still find that its in the way and that irritates me.

Luckily the update also lets you get rid of it.

Scroll through the app until it announces one of the persons in the favourites. Double tap and hold. There appers a small popup menu in the screen with two options. Select hide all and double tap. There comes another popup to ask are you sure. Double tap ok.

Gone are the favourites.

I get annoyed with messenger because the friends list isn't in aalphabetical order its in a very strange order so I have to constantly use table index to find someone I want to talk to, plus of course messages don't read automatically when in a conversation.
Facebook has a very funny idea of accessibility priorities, personally I am not interested in there automatic description of photos, I would rather they sort out basic issues like searching and adding friends through the facebook app being broken. I contacted Mat King about it and asked he said he thought it had been fixed but there is no sign of a fix.
Plus I hate the way facebook force you to fill out a very detailed form just to submit a bug report, it doesn't incline me to do that if they can't sort out basic things like messages reading automatically when skype has been doing this for some time, but then I could quite happily get rid of my facebook account but won't because so many sheep insist on using it. I also don't get the logic behind facebook splitting messaging into a separate app unless its to encourage people to use facebook at work.

Hi Alex

I actually agree with most of your points. They could make the useability of their apps so much better. Unfortunately for me, I have a youtube channel and a website and use social media to bring traffic to both. So my account has to stay.

Shame Facebook doesn't listen to our feedback.

I also have an iPhone 6. But that menu is very small and hard to find. Glad you fixed it.
