I don't know if this is a bug in iOS 17 or by design, but here is the problem I've run into.
I was recently trying to control my iPhone remotely using Voice Control in a noisy environment - running on my treadmill.
So I put on my Airpods Pro 2 and set them to Noise Reduction mode. My phone was on the other side of the room.
After trying to control the phone for a while speaking loudly to overcome the treadmill noise, I finally realized that the reason this wasn't working was that Voice Control was using the phone's microphone even though Siri was using the microphones from the Airpods.
There wasn't a good place on the treadmill to put my phone without falling, so I really wanted to be able to control the phone from the Airpods.
is there some way of changing which microphone Voice control listens to? Strange that two different microphones would be used for Siri and Voice Control. What if someone with motor issues was working in a loud environment and needed to hear feedback from the phone?
Thanks for any suggestions.
