When I search for a person on X I cant tap on their profile protected or not it makes no difference. I think this is a VO issue. Is there any work around? This is frustrating.

That sounds super frustrating! I'd suggest to try restarting VoiceOver. Sometimes, toggling it off and on can resolve minor glitches. If that doesn't do the trick, you might want to check if there are any updates available for the 'X' app or your iOS, as bugs are often fixed in newer versions.
Another workaround could be to adjust the VoiceOver rotor settings. Sometimes tweaking these settings can improve app navigation.

I updated Instagram yesterday and I haven't been able to open / view my profile since. When I double tap to "profile", the application redirects me to the phone homepage. I've deleted and installed the app many times, turned off and on my phone, turned off and on Voiceover, reported problems to Instagram, but I couldn't find any solution. Profiles can be opened when I turn off Voiceover. It's sad because I have 24.2k followers and I'm about to collaborate with brands. Does anyone have any suggestions? Even if I turn off voiceover and log into my profile like that, instagram still closes itself soon after I turn on voiceover.
Apart from that, I can't use the instagram notes feature, I can't look at my message requests either. But I can like content, make comments, post stories, watch other stories, and see my notifications.

To answer about Instagram. I tried tapping on mine and it works. I do understand how frustrating it is though as I'm dealing with X. We both might have to ask somebody to help us tap what we need until this is fixed. As frustrating as it is. Thats the last thing I can think of doing since we tried so many things already.
This has been an issue for a long time. I'm 99 percent sure it's an X/twitter app issue and not an iOS issue. I'm not really expecting a fix. The only thing I would recommend is just googling whoever you're looking for, and then putting their exact username in the search field and it will allow you to go to their X profile.
