bug with iphone 6 and voice over: cannot end calls with the power button

Hello there to everybody. I'm the proud owner of a new iPhone 6 64 gig. I love it except for one thing.

When I attempt to hang up a call weather it be face time or a phone call using the power button I cannot. I've tried restarting and reseting the spring board with no luck. can this be reproduced and if so, how can this be fixed? I've updated and am running ios 8.2.

Take care.

Hi! I have the same problem with my iPhone 6, but I'm not sure whether this is actually a bug, or just a change in the way Apple has made the iPhone work. Given that my own iPhone 6 won't end calls with the lock button, nor with the two-finger double-tap, I've found two workarounds. One is to wait for the other person to hang up, then I've found that after a second or two my carrier will close the line anyway. The other is to take the iPhone away from my ear when I want to end the call, then I tap the End Call button, which I can find with VoiceOver when the phone is not up to my ear. I hope this helps! I don't use FaceTime, so I don't know if these workarounds will work for that.

Actually that's what I've been doing to. and the same work arounds work with face time as well. the end button is actually right above the home button by the way.

<p>Hello there. up until today, people constently told me that it is just something with the IPhone 6, and that I should just ignore it, however, after reading the original post on this today, I decided to test something out. Before you listen to this file, this is what I know for sure. If you have an IPhone 5, 5C, and 5S you can use the power button with no issues with voice over loaded. This seems to be a deffinit 6, and maybe a 6 plus issue. in this file you will hear me make a call with voiceover running, and then another one with voiceover not running. I used an IPhone 6 64GB gold phone to make these calls. listen to what happens. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1582819/IPhone_6_and_power_button_to_end_a_call.mp3</p&gt;

That does not work either at least not on my iPhone 6. And I don't think anyone has called apple accessibility to report this. I'm also hearing that this was a bug that has been present since iOs 3.x and was not an official way to end a call convinenet as it was. but I'm not sure as I rremember seeing it in a manual someware.

I can successfully hang up a call with iPhone 5 every time. Well, I did until I switched carriers. Now it's just a glorified iPod. but yeah can't reproduce that on an older phone. And no one else can either it looks like. So for now it is just on the iPhone 6.

Update: It looks like without voice over off one can successfully hang up a call using the iPhone 6, so yeah I think ti's tome to report this to apple. Feel free to use this forum thread link for clarification

I was never able to end a call with the power button on my iPhone 5, first running iOS 6, and then iOS 7. It's something I'd actually posted about after I'd had my iPhone 5 for several months. It didn't matter if I pressed the power button once, or twice; this never worked for me. If Voiceover is disabled, then I was able to end a call that way. It seems odd to me that some people were able to make this work, and others like myself haven't been. Now with my iPhone 6, it still doesn't work.

Try it with voice over off and you actually hold down the power button for a few seconds is normally how I hang up, or did until the 6.

This problem seems to effect all IPhone 6's. I have a 6+ 16-GB running iOS 8.2. and I have recently discovered that the only way I can hang up from a call is to also wake the phone up and locate the End Call button by wiggling my finger just above the Home Button. I used to be able to hang up from a call by just pressing the power button on my old 4S. Hopefully we can come up with a solution to this issue!

Hello everyone, I'm using iPhone 5s and I'm with the side of unable to end call with power button. Earlier, the two finger double tab worked ok for me. After this 8.2, that has also gone boom now. It's being a pain to end up the calls.

Greetings:

I have noticed this problem, but it appears to exist only for the iPhone 6 and possibly the Plus. Working with the iPhone 5S also using iOS 8.2 does not exhibit this problem.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

Well, I just heard from apple accessibility. I just wrote to them not 2 hours ago. Here is their response.

Hello,

Thank you for your email. We appreciate the feedback and wanted to let you know that Apple is currently investigating this issue. We cannot comment on when it may be resolved.

Sincerely,

Apple Accessibility

Hope that helps.

I have an iPhone 6, 64GB, and the two-finger double-tap to end a call works for me. I've noticed that I have to wait a split second after pulling the phone away from my ear, and then perform the gesture. It also takes longer, the call doesn't end as quickly as it used to. But it consistently works here.
