Hello everyone,
I'm curious: has anyone else lost the ability to double-tap the edges of the screen to activate Braille Screen Input in iOS 18.1.1? This started for me after I had the most recent update pushed to me. Perhaps it is unique to my phone, though?
I will say, I have already emailed the Apple accessibility team. I have also tried rebooting both VoiceOver and my phone itself, and I have had no luck. the setting to double tap the edges to activate BSI is reading as switched on in my Commands section of VoiceOver settings as well. Does anyone know any solution available for this bug? I am really missing that feature, despite only having access to it for the past two months or so.

Please double check that the…
Please double check that the setting to activate with gestures is in fact switched on in Settings/Accessibility/VoiceOver/Braille/Braille Screen Input.
Not a bug
It's annoying but iOS updates often toggle off the BSI gestures. If you go into the settings you should be able to just turn it on again, hopefully that gets fixed soon.
I thought the same, but other posters are right.
I was quite disappointed about this "bug" but then I checked the settings and sure enough, the toggle was turned off after updating.
I did end up turning off the setting that automatically turns on BSI when activating a text field. I hadn't realized how often I actually do want the standard keyboard. Besides, the gesture is so so quick.
Thank You All
Ah, I'm glad I asked here! Those instructions worked perfectly. I must have turned on that setting at some point, but I must have forgotten about it. Thank you all for your feedback.
