Hi, My name is Surabhi and I live in San Francisco, CA. I’m the developer of Braillist - a free braille keyboard for the iPhone. I believe that accessible technology should be accessible to individuals from all economic backgrounds. This is often not the case and for this reason, I'm proud that the community of people using Braillist is steadily growing. Special thanks to all members of the blind and sighted community who have given me constructive feedback over the past weeks and months.

I’ve listened to what my customers had to say and am happy to announce a huge improvement in the Braillist text-to-voice engine. With VoiceOver on, the voice feedback for characters and words is now brought to you by none other than Siri. This enables typing at much faster speeds than previously possible. The audio feedback has also been expanded to include deletions and a more comprehensive set of symbols. Braillist is compatible with iPhone 3GS through the iPhone 5, iPod touch models from 3rd generation onwards and iOS 5.0 & later versions.

Find instructions on using the Braillist keyboard at http://braillist.info/visually_impaired.html#scroll. Here, you can also read about other built-in features such as a notes library, mappings library, ability to customize contractions, etc. You can also sign up for the email group to join the community of Braillist users. I’ll be glad to answer your questions and hear more about your experience with this app.

Best Wishes & Happy Brailling,
Surabhi

If you do not hear voice feedback, try this: Go to Settings → Braillist → Keyboard Audio Feedback and make sure that Per Word and Per Letter feedback are on. Now when using the braillist keyboard with VO on, you should hear the typed letter or word.
