Bluesky app alternatives

So the big new social media place right now seems to be Bluesky but the app is worse with accessibility every time I open it. Currently you can't type a post using braille screen input (how anyone screws up an on device keyboard like that is a mystery to me), can't read reposts, can't tab through posts at all (you just get to the bottom of the screen and it starts reading the menu bar), can't two finger tap to read continuously, and on and on. The official app is garbage so far and no pleas to the dev team seem to have changed anything. So my question is, are there any alternatives yet? Do blind people get to take part in this new digital public square or has the door been slammed in our faces by default on this one?

Totally get you about this app. It's baffling how these basic features are overlooked, especially in something as vital as a social media platform!

I'm not sure there's any app that ticks all the boxes for accessibility, but you might want to check out some of the more established platforms like Twitter or Mastodon. They tend to have better support for assistive technologies, though they might not have the same vibe as Bluesky.

Though, tbh, twitter is not the most pleasant platform atm. Musk's has turned it into a joke. However, trying never hurts.

Also, maybe raising awareness through other channels or social media platforms could put some pressure on the Bluesky developers to make the necessary changes.
Fingers crossed!

Hello,
I've never heard of the app you're trying to fix, Bluesky. What is it? Is it developed by those with visual impairments?

Bluesky is an platform, very similar to how Twitter used to be, started by the person who originally created Twitter before it was purchased by Elon Musk.

Interesting that it has so many iOS issues. I found it to be very accessible on Android, possibly more than Twitter ever was on either Android or iOS. Hopefully that will change since the Android version is so good.
