Hi! So I really like to walk around and find new places like coffee shops in unfamiliar areas. Which GPS app do you think gives the best walking directions? I have tried Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Seeing Eye GPS and have found Apple Maps the most helpful because it seems to be pretty accurate, tells me whether the destination is on my right or left earlier in the route, and announces nearby streets and addresses. What does everyone think? Which app (or combination of apps) do you find most helpful?
On a somewhat unrelated note, has anyone found apps that can give you directions to subway stations or bus stops without having to mark them ahead of time? Google and Apple know where the stops are, but it is not possible to put the bus stop / station as a destination :)

Blind Square
Oddly enough, I end up needing to use Blind Square a lot when I'm riding around with someone just to find fast food or even the place we're going. Anyway, that's what I use for finding what's around.
I use apple maps if I'm trying to get an idea of what the street layout is of an area.

I use Seeing Eye Gps, or Nearby Explorer or Blind Square depending on where I am what information I want.

Apps I Use
I like Blindsquare for knowing what's around me and I do sometimes use it to find things. It will give either a location by clock-face; for example 300 yards at 3 o'clock or cardinal directions. For just knowing where I am, Ariadne GPS works well. It will give me the nearest street address that it can locate. I find there are some places where GPS isn't very accurate so it can't always be relied on.
Nearby and Blind Square
I use Nearby explorer as my daily GPS app. I like the extra information about intersections and its internal turn by turn directions.
However, I do like Blind Square when I am looking for new places in a new area. I like the way it sorts and organizes potential destinations.
Lazarello
You should also try Lazarello. I didn't play with it much but it seems that more Points of interests are recognized than with BlindSquare. Hope that helps
Problem with Blind Square
Only thing that's bad about Blind Square is anyone can call their house what ever they want. Near me someone named their house in Foursquare Max's Bar. So if you use Blind Square I would check that the location is real on Google or Apple maps first before going to it.
POI Names.
I think the issue with weird place names is related to the Four Square database that Blind Square uses. I found this amusing at first, and then it was kind of annoying. I prefer using the Google Places database in Nearby Explorer for this reason. Nearby Explorer can also use the Four Square information and sometimes, when I want a laugh, I turn it on. It usually doesn't take long before I turn it back off.
Seeing Eye GPS
@Haylie (or anyone else that has used it) what do you find most helpful about Seeing Eye GPS? What do you usually use it for?
I wouldn't count on Blind Square for places
I wouldn't count on Blind Square for destanations as it uses Foursquare. On Foursquare you can name things what ever you want. Near me someone named their house Max's Bar for example. So any place you do find with Blind Square I would check it on Apple or Google maps first.
