Hi all:
I've been asked by a friend who just got an iPad to see if I could find her a good color identification app. I'm aware there are several out there, though I personally don't use any. If it matters, she has an iPad with retina display rather than the iPad Air.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Best,
-John

IMO There Ain't Any!
John:
By its very nature, color is a subjective concept, , especially if one deals with other than primary colors, i.e., those that do not consist of a single wavelength of coherent light. Moreover, the spectrum emitted by the illuminating light source, the reflectivity of the object whose color is to be measured, the background against which the object is framed -- all have an effect upon what a human being perceives as being the color of the object and all of which machines aren't very good at judging. Thus, it is my experience that all color apps are virtually useless if amusing. I used one once that came up with names of colors for things comprehensible only to an artist! I've used color identifier devices that took a fair stab at identifying colors but none of them were as good as a trustworthy human and none of them were apps.
I'm sure others will differ but that's been my experience.
Sorry to rain on your parade.
Also looking for 1
I also would like to find one that works well if possable.
Some suggestions
Some that tend to receive fairly good reviews are:
aidColors
Color Visor
Color Reader's Voice
Color Identifier
Aipoly Vision
There is no "perfect" app.
