Backtap not working with VO, and sidebutton with calls hangup

Hello all,
So, I have an iphone 15 pro max, but there is an issue that still going on since my last iphone.
When I go to accessibility/touch/backtap, and select an action for both double and tripple backtap, it never works while voiceover is on. I have to turn VO off so that they can work.
I know that there is another backtap option under voiceover/commands/backtap, but I made sure to remove any associated action with them.
Is anyone facing the same issue? do you have to turn VO off to use the assigned option to backtap?
Also, there is another option regarding using sidebutton to hang up a call, and also doesn't work with me. Looking forward

Thank you

So as a VO user, you are doing it backwards. If you want to be able to use Backtap with VO enabled, do it from the Commands > Touch within VO settings.

However you can continue using the non VO Backtap, but that will never work with VO.

On a side note, you can actually use both for a total of 4 back tap gestures, 2 with and 2 without VO. If you are feeling adventurous. 😀

This has been hit or miss for a few versions of iOS now. I am not sure if there is a fix/work around for it, unfortunately.

Hi! I can't comment on the back tap bug because I haven't tried to use that feature for several years now. I was excited about it when it was first announced, but it didn't seem to work reliably, so I just forgot about it and went on with life. Ending a call with the side button, on the other hand, is a feature I've missed since it disappeared back when I still had my iPhone 5S, or maybe the 7? Anyway, I was very, very excited when I heard that ending a call with the side button was coming back, but unfortunately, it has never, ever worked. I know there's some sort of setting for disabling that feature, and I've made sure on numerous occasions that that particular feature is not active, but no matter what I do, pressing the side button on my iPhone 13 pro has never even once ended a call. It's frustrating when features exist that we want to use, but then they end up not working. I hope you get answers regarding your issue with backtap, and I'll be watching this thread in case anyone has any insite on the ending calls with the side button issue.

I normally don't use backtap but I thought I'd test it. I tried backtap under VoiceOver commands and I also tried it under touch. Both are working on my device. I have an iPhone 12 Pro running the latest iOS. I found tapping near the top of the phone on the back seems to work the best for me.

It also depends on if you have a simple or complex iPhone case. Some cases will be too bulky or layered for Backtap to work properly.

The sidebutton not working is also disappointing. I realized it is back under accessibility settings and thought it's wokring. However, after trying it didn't work, I think we should contact Apple accessibility for this. In many cases, this is not the first time that a feature loike this doesn't work especially with VO.
BTW, is assistive touch important for VO? I didn't know weather it's significant for me as a blind user.
