Authenticator apps questions

Hello all,
Which authenticator apps for two factor verification are accessible to use? I am thinking of starting to use one of these rather than using SMS. I have been hearing more and more stories of people having their phone simms hijacked. Any suggestions on which one a person uses and why would also be helpful?

Thank you,

Sadly a lot of these use a sort of QR Code you have to capture with your phone's camera to authenticate yourself initially. (Like to setup an account to use the app.) Once you authenticate with this to prove that it is your phone, etc., you usually only have to say Yes/No with a dialog/notification on your phone.

The one I was able to get to actually work was LastPass Authenticator. The Accept/Deny thing that pops up when I need to authenticate - the buttons don't have labels, but the labels are one flick to the right of the buttons, so you can tlel what is what.

I still had to do the QR Code thing initially to add an account, but I was somehow able to flail my camera at the laptop screen enough to have it capture the code correctly.

And now that you mention sim card spoofing, now I'm worried about that. Damn. Here I thought my two-factor authentication was bullet proof.

All of the ones I have used are usable: last pass, 1password, and microsoft. The 1password however incorporates the 2fa code into the password manager.
