Are There Apps or Aren't There Apps, That is the Question?

I recently came across a little pickle and was hoping maybe others might be able to shed some light on the matter.

So here is my pickle. So I am in the middle of upgrading from an iPhone 6 Plus to an iPhone 8 Plus. My 6 Plus is running iOS 10.3.3 and my 8 Plus is running 11.0.1. Both iPhones have the same apps but when going to the App Store and checking for updates, my 6 Plus finds updates but when going to the updates on my 8 Plus, it keeps telling me that my apps are up to date. Now I've looked into this and have ensured that I have a solid internet connection (on my wi-fi at home), I've logged into my Apple ID and double checked that my Payment Method was correct, even entered my security code for my card to make sure to authorize the new device. To double check that confirming my credit card worked, I went to the App Store and downloaded a free app to make sure that all worked fine.

After doing all of this, I checked my app updates on my 6 Plus and after finding a few updates, one being Facebook, I double checked the updates on my 8 Plus and, as before, it keeps telling me that I still have no updates.

Is it possible that the updates that are showing up on my 6 Plus would not be available on my 8 Plus. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, Have you tried refreshing on your 8+? There appears to be a bug in iOS11 where updates are not showing automatically when checking. You have to manually do a refresh to get the latest ones. Oddly, I do sometimes get 1 update showing the next day if I'd done a refresh the previous day. No idea why.

I actually haven't tried that, how would you do a refresh, the usual three finger swipe down?

Yes. I've found it a bit hit and miss as to where on the screen I do the refresh. I just keep doing it until it stops saying page 1 of 3 or what ever and eventually says refreshing.

Great, I'll have to try that when I get home. Thank you so much for the help. I thought for a while I was going crazy or that I had bought a defective phone. I actually ran into a little scare yesterday when, after downloading all my apps and placing them into their folder, I popped in my SIM card into my 8 Plus and when trying to connect to Facebook, it said I had no network connectivity. Being a little freaked out, I started scouring through my phone trying to figure out what the heck was going on as my phone was showing I had 4 of 5 bars. Then it hit me, I had previously turned off data and had forgotten to turn it back on. Let's just say I was not only thrilled, but also felt a little stupid. Thanks again for your help, very much appreciated.

If you are upgrading to the new phone, as far as I would understand when the new apps are downloaded to your phone the latest version would be installed, which is why there would not be updates on your new phone, but there is on your old one. someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the new phone is grabbing the latest version of the app where your old phone may not have all of the latest app updates. You could even confirm this and see if the version numbers are different from your old phone verses the new one with the same app to see if it is indeed getting the newest version of the app from the store.

Just to clarify, when I got updates for apps on my 6 Plus, these same apps had already been installed on my 8 Plus a day or two before. So I should have gotten that same update on my 8 Plus, unless if the updates that were for my 6 Plus were iOS specific? I do have iOS 10.3.3 on my 6 Plus and 11.0.1 on my 8 Plus. I don't know, but will try and refresh the page, perhaps that is all I need to do to fix it.
