What apps are people using for product recognition? For example, to scan a product bar code and hear VoiceOver identify the product? I have always used Seeing AI for this, but lately, it fails to work about half the time, and VoiceOver says "Not recognized". So I'm open to trying another app.

Sorry I'm not providing a solution. I am also looking for answers. Seeing AI seems to have sped up barcode searching to the point where it doesn't work more often than it does. I had been complaining that it didn't know many products, but my recent testing indicates that it often says "not-recognized" for a product it just identified just fine. So sometimes trying repeatedly helps, but other times it doesn't. It'd be nice if the app let you copy the scanned barcode to the clipboard.
Ditto for Me
I've mainly used Seeing AI but SuperSense seems okay too. I was only able to use the free version of that app though, due to financials. I have one of those goose-neck desk lamps now, and that seems to help but Seeing AI might need another update one of these years. I saw another free app like this briefly mentioned elsewhere, called Sullivan Plus or something like that. Has anyone tried that one out? I searched for it here on AppleVis but couldn't find it.
Sullivan Plus a Possibility
Well...Curiosity got the best of me as is the case more and more these days, and I grabbed myself a copy of this app. First off, I wonder why it is called that since it is based in Korea. But having said that, it seems like a good app and I for one am going to keep it. It's so interesting with all this recognition stuff coming out. I'm a bit curious what exactly sets each one apart. I for one, need all the help I can get when it comes to scanning things such as frozen meals and the like.
Seeing AI, Be My Eyes and Navylense
These apps are at the forefront of product identification. They are working with product manufacturors to bring product identification to their apps.
Seeing AI
I use this one for products. And I use the hint someone on here suggested. Holding your arms close to your body so the camera is steady helps. On for example, frozen dinners, Seeing AI reads exactly what it is. The difficult items like cans and medication bottles takes time to figure out. Because the camera only sees parts of words and letters, so the app says jibberish and you have to keep turning the can or bottle so Voiceover will say complete words.
Help Us Fix This!
Hi, I'm the lead for the Seeing AI team. I agree, really strange if Seeing AI is saying "not recognized" for a product it just recognized.
Can you email us, and we'll try and figure this out - happy to give you a call if that's easier. Seeing AI at Microsoft.com.
Hope we can get this fixed for you all soon.
