okay I have seen a number of apps out there, but all of them seem to need music to be used. I need an app for my IPhone four S, that I can use to measure the miles I walk or run, but I don't want to put a lot of music on my phone because it's an eight GB phone. does anyone have any ideas of what app I can use? preferably cheap or free? thanks!

Personally, one of my favorite for this is the RunKeeper - GPS Track Running Walking Cycling https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/runkeeper-gps-track-running/id300235330?mt=8 As with many other similair apps to this. Just remember that this uses your GPS to measure your distances as you walk or run. So this will not work if you are stationary on a treadmill. HTH

Sadly I can not get that app to download on my phone. It says it can not be downloaded.

Pedometer by Runtastic is a very good app for this purpose. There is a light, free, version and a paid version available. You have choices of running, walking, nordic walking, or other.

Okay I have questions. Can you provide me a link to this app? Can I use pandora along with it?

I also suggest run keeper. Just keep trying t dl the app as it is worth it. You can use iTunes with it or your music of choice. I don't as I use it to walk around the college and found out I do about 6 miles a dayt inside and outside, up and down stairs. Take care.

Hi! I use pedometer pro from sport.com. You can use it with or without gps so for treadmill or walking inside it is great.

I got run keeper downloaded. Now let me make sure I understand. You can use pandora, right? I want to play music, but can't put a bunch on my phone.

I really don't know as I despise pandora. You can try it though just launch pandora and then launch run keeper and play with it. I have a podcast on it that I did and actually finished a walk with it, sort of. It is a very good app and the voice is pretty good as well.

Liking run keeper. It is working very well so far. I like it.

I have a question about run keeper. How can I have my workout last like 10 minutes? I want to build up slowly.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 24, 2014 - 01:50

You just use the time. When it reaches 10 minutes you stop. It will not tell you when to stop. that is your responsibility. You can also use your iOS timer to help you as well. Just set it to 10 minutes for example, then use run keeper to see how long you've walked. For me I know I can do a 10th of a mile in 3 minutes if I push myself and you will hear that in the podcast as well. Good luck.

Run keeper and runtasktic are two great apps.

this is becoming more like a tech support thread now. lol sorry guys. Okay so how can I change the reminders from every three days to once a day? anyone know?

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 24, 2014 - 01:50

You can't set a reminder in run keeper. and don't think you can in runtastic. listened to a goode demo of it on audio boo. and they did not talk about reminders in run tactic. Take care.

By Cat on Monday, February 24, 2014 - 01:50

it does on the main screen. it says "remind me in..." then it says three days." then I guess it sends push notifications to remind you. at least this is what I am seeing on my four S. I am going to go listen to your pod cast to see how you do this.

Interesting. Um, I don't recall seeing that at all and I did a review of run keeper in october. Maybe they changed it. I have not used it since I got out of last semester. I'll probably reset it some how when I go back to walking a lot. lol! Take care and be blessed, and hope that somewhat helps.
Hi Bill, Is the Pedometer app from Runttastic for use while I'm walking on the treadmill? I would like a good easy app to use for letting me know how many miles I've walked on my treadmill. Thanks!

When you connect runkeeper with Facebook and twitter, does it post to your wall or timeline with out you knowing? Does it post things automatically or do I have to do this myself? I want to make sure of this before I do this. Thanks.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 24, 2014 - 01:50

I'm not sure, as I don't connect it to twitter or facebook as I don't want people to see how many miles I've welled a day. I already tweet too much by my self alone with out any external apps. lol!

Tc.

Hey guys. I am having trouble with run keeper. When I was working out tonight, under the pace it said zero point zero zero. It was as if I was not moving when I know I am. I had to shake my phone to get it to know I was living. I think I need to switch apps. I like run keeper though, because I can play my music, and it tells me how much time has gone by.

Sorry for typos. Does anyone know of an app I can use both indoors and outside?

By Cat on Monday, February 24, 2014 - 01:50

okay last post for awhile. I made an account on runkeeper, but I have a question. when you run/walk, or whatever, does the location that the GPS gets go on your profile? I am a private person, so the thought of my exact location being public like that makes me nervous. I made my account, thinking that it may fix the problem I am having. Hoping it does. If not, then I will have to get another app. Okay sorry for spamming the site.

runkeeper has a voice that tells you the time as it goes by. like it says "five minutes, miles 0.03." or something along those lines anyway. I like being updated like that as I go along. also, I like the idea of being able to use apps like pandora along with it. I don't know about this account though, so that has me a little concerned. As I said before I don't like my location given out like that.
