Hi friends,
I would like to throw musical ideas at my iPhone, when no musical instruments is available. I would gladly use just press record, but my ability to sing polyphonic lines is limited LOL.
I was hoping GarageBand would do the job, but it seems very complicated and only partly accessible. I don’t know if things have changed recently. Someone was saying he would do a podcast on GarageBand, is it still on his schedule ? Or, Do you have anything else to recommend?

I generally tend to just record piano ideas with Voice Memos before I put it into a DAW or arrange it for my band.
Did you try the Music Memos app from Apple? Perhaps that might work for you.

Never heard of this app
Never heard of this app before. However, voiceover goes completely silent as soon as I open it. Doesn’t seem to be the right one for us.
Cheers,
If you want to get a full-fledged controller
If you want to get a full-fledged MIDI keyboard, I would not buy one for iPhone. While GarageBand does work on the iPhone, it is much more accessible to use either GarageBand or vogic on the Mac, and it allows you to work with better-sounding virtual instruments.
Inputting Music in iOS
Try Symphony Pro. This is a full fledged program for entering music a note at a time. A lot of work went into making this app accessible with Voiceover and there are a lot of hotkeys that one can use if one has a bluetooth keyboard. I'm fairly sure one can also enter notes via a midi keyboard witht the proper connection.

Does symphony pro allow you
Does symphony pro allow you to record, or do you have to use musical notation to enter notes in this app?
Thanks

Re: Does Symphony Pro allow one to record
Here is the link to Symphony Pro in the appApp Store:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/symphony-pro-music-notation/id412380315
From the description there are a number of ways to enter notes - manually, imported from an XML file, step record or real time record from a connected midi device.
As I said, the developer has put in many hotkeys for accessibility with VoiceOver and is fairly responsive to accessibility concerns from users who contact him.
