Hello.
Since Vorail is now subscription based, I am not on there any more, because I don't see the point. Is there an alternative to Vorail? I never subscribe to anything. I need something for iOs.

if you speak turkish, you can try blind id. it says "blind" but it's not about blind people. It was 100% accessible at the beginning then they've done some updates, I don't know how is it now

Check out DiscussionFairy. Its free and like Vorail.

I'll check both of these out.

I like the fact that discussionfairy don't let you ramble on for too long.

That has to be one of the most off putting things about Vorail.

Talk for 60 seconds or less, which is what you really need.

There's no need to tell us your life story.

About blind ID, do they only speak turkish on there?

It's not a problem for me, since I speak turkish, but my dialect is from north Cyprus.

I've tested out Discussionfairy and so far, I'm really liking the app.

I might give BlindID a miss because I don't really like the idea of calling random people.

Discussionfairy, however is very similar to Vorail but without the rambling.

And if you do happen to go over your time limit, you get cut off.

Also the audio quality for discussionfairy is like Vorail.

I'm already seeing posts where people are complaining that it doesn't have private messaging or let you talk longer.

It's meant for public discussions, you can even listen to peoples posts in a web browser before you decide to join.

There is no sign up process, simply download the app, find a discussion you're interested in, or create your own.

There are no usernames, only your voice.

It is completely up to you whether or not you give out your name, just keep in mind some people on there may recognise your voice and refer to you by name anyway.

Since I don't have anything to hide, I don't mind if my name is mentioned on there.

Now, I do wonder if discussions disappear after a while or if they're kept around, like on vorail, but apart from a few unlabelled buttons, the app is pretty good.

In addition to all this, Elten, which is a successor to the klango network, is coming to mobile on IOS soon. That too has voice forums like the ones we all used to know and love from the good old days of Klango.

Hi all! Unfortunately, disscussionFairy is not available in Russian Appstore. Is there any way to contact the developer to find out if it is available in Russian store in the future?

Hello! The app has disappeared from all app stores as far as I can tell. It has ceased working on my iPhone a while ago. And it seems that their website, https://discussionfairy.com/, doesn‘t really work anymore either. They do have an email address on their website: questions@DiscussionFairy.com . You may want to try this one. But I wouldn‘t keep my hopes up.

Thank you for your quick reply! So, are there any free alternatives to the Vorail app left? Because I don’t think it is a good idea to try blind ID because I don’t speak Turkish I speak English as my second language.

I can‘t think of anything that hasn‘b been discussed on AppleVis. You could give BlindID a try anyway. I read in the App Description that it has a Language setting.
Another one coming to my mind would be the Zello App. It‘s a Walky Talky App with public channels. AppleVis used to have a community channel on there, which however has been locked down a while ago. Still, there‘s quite a lot going on. Find it here: https://itunes.apple.com/ch/app/zello-walkie-talkie/id508231856?mt=8
Maybe others could chime in with more suggestions.
I personally hope that one day, Voreil gets some kind of basic free plan, allowing for a limited amount of messages to be sent or listened to.

Well, I have just tried blind id and well. I have got an answer from a woman who does not speak English, keeping in mind that I chose English language in my profile... Strange actually! Maybe someone got another experience?

since english spanish and arabic people don't use blind id, some turkish people WHO doesn't want to hang in "turkish language" change their language setting to English, Spanish or Arabic. What I try to say is if I change my language setting to Spanish, that doesn't mean I'm going to talk someone Spanish. Sometimes I get bored from the people in Turkish language setting and I go change my language setting to Spanish for example. I still talk to Turkish people.

Hi all! Are there any new apps similar to Vorail you know of? I really love exchanging opinions with blind people around the world, but now that both The Zone BBS and Vorail are gone, it's very hard to find a sort of hub to do so. I was wondering if something new came to life, especially now that apps such as Zoom have flourished. Thanks a lot!

I know it's not exactly what you are looking for, but you could try Club house. If you're not familiar with it, it enables you to talk to groups of people in real time. It also enables you to create private rooms where you can talk to someone in private without anyone listening in. It is free and totally accessible. The only downside to it is you have to be invited by another user.

Clubhouse rocks! I've been active since May 18th. I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in previous comments, but you can finally private message other clubhouse users with its back channel feature. I love it! They update every week with accessibility enhancements for voiceover users, as well as requested in user features.

Vorail doesn't appear to be gone, but it is no longer free.

I wouldn't have minded paying the subscription, but I also wasn't on it as much as I use to be.

Clubhouse is free while it's still being tested, at least that's what they're calling it.

But don't be surprised if that eventually becomes a paid service.

They'll need to make money somehow, and donations will only get you so far.
