Am I really not using compact voice?

Although I live in the UK, I have always chosen to use the US English voice on my iPone, iPad and iMac. I got an iPhone 5 last week and after setting it up, added US English to the language rotor and away I went. As an aside, every time VO restarts, it defaults back to British English and I have to manually change it back. Anyway, my reason for this post is that the voice quality is horrible. It sounds fuzzy somehow, sort of muffled. It made me wonder if my hearing was going funny! this morning, after rebooting my phone after the battery died, I accidently listened to the British english voice and noticed that it is much much better. Clean and crisp, with no fuzzyness. I've looked and Use Compact Voice is off when either voice is speaking, but my question is, is the US English voice rubbish now or am I really using the compact voice? I added Irish and South African and they sound as bad as the US and they to said compact voice was off, but only seconds after I'd switched and presumably to soon for them to have been downloaded. How do I know I really have the full voices on my device?

Its very simple to explain this one, just by correcting your last sentence. Compact voice, not voics. Since your phone defaults to British, thats the only compact voice you are going to get. Only one non-compact voice is allowed and it is always the default interface language. Just switching the language rotor has no effect you have to switch language in International

As far as I no, once the voices is silently downloaded over wifi wile its plugged in, then the commpact voice option will appear, and as soon as that option become available under VoiceOver, then you can be sure that its there and change it, as far as I could say, it only apply to the US voice, but I could be rong on this. And I don't no if there were changes in I O S 6 regarding this as I didn't update yet. I did here on david woodbridge potcast though that the austrailion voice sound better.

You are only allowed one high quality voice, that makes sense. I'm still wondering if I had the quality US English voice on my 4S - I seem to remember the date format being correct. Time to experiment. Thanks.
