Would appreciate some help with Knight Commander

Hello all.

I came across an awesome game after reading the most recent Applevis newsletter: knight commander, and i have to say i’ve become rather addicted even in the period of about 12 hours since i purchased it.

That said i’m a bit stuck now and just wondered if any fellow gamers out there could offer me a few pointers to help me progress. How does one go about getting hold of the more useful resources like string, leather, meat, and so on. I’m constantly being told i need certain resources to make what i presume will be more useful ones, but i’ve run out of tricks to try and achieve anything. While the developers are no doubt trying to make the help menus as short and simple as possible, they do seem fairly vague with guidance.

Many thanks in advance for any ideas..

You'll need to go hunting with your people. The go hunting option should say, needs spear. So, you'll have to make a spear before you can go hunting. The more spears you have, the more meats you will get when you go hunting. That's the same for devining rods for water and simple axes for wood. If you need more info on an item or an action, double tap and hold.
Don't go to war until you ramp up your energy, otherwise you'll get slaughtered and your gold will go in the minus.
Hope this helps.

Ah ok. If i’m understanding your explanation correctly i have a feeling i’ve already messed up good and proper lol. My gold currently reads minus two hundred and something, and my energy doesn’t seem to go down, unless of course i’m simply misunderstanding the whole thing. Previously i would never have chosen these types of games. Now i’m not giving up on it easily ☺️Wet

Hello
The basic idea is to send your people to perform tasks.
You can then make items from what they gather.
There are categories of what you can make at the bottom of the screen.
Along with a option button this is where you can start a new game.
To find out what you need to make a item you can tap and hold on the item to show a dialog of what is required to make that item.

Some items take several steps to make them.

There are some helpful people in the thread The story and release of Knight Commander in the IOS Gaming forum on this website.

A user guide is being worked upon

I am the developer of the game so I am totally to blame.

Hi John,
First off, thanks for an entertaining game. I must be one of those who is pushing your engine, as when I initiate war and tap fight, there's noise for like half a minute and then it crashes. I don't lose anything fortunately, but I don't gain anything either. Not sure if x'i because I'm at 64000 energy and 30 mins of time, but whatever it is, I can't do the war thing. Incidentally, does the bell tolling mean anything? The system says war is so many moves away, but nothing ever happens.

Love this little game. Much fun.
Well done John!!!
Would really appreciate it though if the events could be turned off completely in options. This would then mean that I could develop my settlement without it being trashed by a dragon or a monster etc.
Might be naff idea for some but I would like the chance to just make progress without any hass. Get enough of that in RL LOL
Keep up the good work :)

Hello john, and thank you for the tips. It’s always lovely hearing from the app developers. Can i just ask a couple of further questions. First, in the options screen, apart from the option to start a new game, there are other buttons including food, resources, etc. When i double-tap on one it comes up with a search for item box. How are these various buttons supposed to help during the game? Second, it’s a great idea having the various natural disaster or emergency reports to make the game more of a chalenge. The problem for me is i’m finding my progress is constantly halted because, for example, a dragon needs meat in X number of moves, and i simply have no way of preventing any trouble caused by the dragon in such a short time. Any tips there, or in a future update could there perhaps be a way to match one of these disasters with where a gamer is up to to give them more of a chance of being able to act on it. It’s certainly a great feature of the game, it’s just sometimes it feels like my progress is constantly slow. Many thanks, this is certainly the best strategy game i’ve come across in a while ☺️Weee

Yes i absolutely agree. While the events are great for posing more of a challenge, it would definitely help me for certain, to get a decent settlement under my belt before i have to worry about monsters and hooded clowns etc doing everything in their power to trash it. Apart from that slight frustration i’m thoroughly enjoying this ☺️

By Martin on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

Hi Rachel,
The trick is to increase your people as quickly as you can. Once you get like 5 people, the events aren't as bad of an issue, because you can create items and sell them in the inventory much faster that way. The events become just an annoyance after that.

By rachel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by Martin

Ok thanks. How would i increase the number of people then? I have 4 at the mo, the number i had at the start of the game.

By Martin on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by rachel

Oh sorry, should have said. If you go under the shop tab, you can buy stuff there with the gold you generate when you sell stuff under the inventory tab. You can increase your people, add energy, increase your warehouse... that sort of thing.
To generate more gold, check out the quests tab. Some of the quests can be easy, depending on how many moves you have to accomplish them.

By rachel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by Martin

Ah right thanks i’ll do that. I was assuming the shop was where you bought food and so on. I didn’t realise you increased your army of helpers there as well. All is slowly starting to make sense. Thank you so much for bearing with me lol ☺️

Hi John, loving the game more than ever.
I have 10 people now but since getting this many people the mineral mine is not registering that I went in there and when I chop down trees, I do not get anything from it.
I have closed the app and then open it again but the bugs are still there.
Any suggestions please buddy.
Well done once again for making such a cool game.

If you are finding that your people are coming back with
no resources then it could be that the warehouse is too small.

The warehouse will not accept any of a resource if the total amount of resource
exceeds the warehouse size.

The latest version will give a warning when your warehouse is over 90% full.
You can increase the size of your warehouse in the shop for gold.

Hope this helps.

Hi John
Thanks for your reply. :)
I have lots of storage space due to 4 wearhouse upgrades and 10 sheds.
I think that I have 14 people now.
I have also done the latest app update too. Thanks for sorting that out too.
However, the chop down trees option is still not working.
Not sure how to frix this one.
I have tried it when I had 49% wearhouse and the option still did not work.
Sorry for hass but not sure how to fix this one.

Well done once again for a cool game and thanks for your patience.
Stu

Hi Stu,
Just curious. I too got stuck like this, but it only happened when my storage was at 63%. Very odd, but if I went and sold some of my inventory, or used some resources, it would clear this up.

I have now just had the clowns come to visit because I could not get 44 clubs built in time.
Lost lots of resources and some buildings too LOL
This is rather funny because the disaster option was set too off too.
Time to put the kettle on and have a break :)

By rachel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by Sturunner

Oh dear how frustrating! Rotten clowns descend and ruin all your hard work. If it’s any consolation the dragons have just visited me, and pinched every single bit of meat i had, as well as destroyed many of my other resources and tools, all because i didn’t have enough time to prevent them. Think like you i’ll go make a brew before i start trying to replace all my stuff. Wow these clowns and dragons don’t half know how to try us right?

I am considering leaving the game for a few days until another update comes out. :)
Takes too long to collect wood instead of chopping trees down.
Will not give up on this cool game though.
I cannot put my finger on it but there is something a little different about it which makes it stand out from other ones that I have dabbled with.

Peace out

Stu

Somehow when you turn the disasters off in the option and then you leave the app and reopen it turns it self on for some reason. So for now remember to always go to options and turn them off manually every time you open the game. I hope that gets fixed soon. I am not having any problems with the chopping down of trees though.

By Shersey on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

So, I haven't played this game since an update or so ago, but I'm excited to get back into it. :) However, I'm not sure how to tell how many moves or ticks have passed. I had a disaster pop up when I last played, saying that the financial market was going to fall in a certain amount of moves. I didn't know how to fix it. This question also applies to quests. How can you sell 50 wood in a small number of moves? Does each process of gathering wood count toward those moves? How do you know how many moves have passed since you started the quest? Sorry for all the stupid questions, but I find this all a little complicated.

I need to restart my game because of the duplicate pillow issue, so it'll be a good time to learn about the new update. :)

Thanks,
Shersey

Hi there. Just checking in to help with some of your queries - and don’t worry, these are certainly not stupid questions.

The time allowed to complete quests can indeed be a bit much. You might consider checking the quests to see which you feel is achievable, e.g. sell 50 meet in 20 moves. Get 20 or so meet in storage, then accept the quest. You can then sell 20 in one go by going to inventory, and double-tap and hold the sell meat quest. You now have options to sell your meat in percentages. Double-tap to sell that percentage of meat in one go.

Regarding moves, moving from one screen to another (e.g. your people screen to your town screen) would be one move.

Hope this makes some sort of sense; feel free to just shout if not. It’s lovely that we can all help each other here ☺️

By Sturunner on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

Thanks for the tip about disaster option Ornella. Very helpful.
I have 20 simple axes at the moment. Trees not chopping down though.
I will now go and sell them and then build some more to see if that makes the trees chop down again. :)

I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me where the “go to war” option comes into the game please? In what sort of situations might i consider sending my people to fight? It’s the one aspect of the game i haven’t managed to figure out yet. The help menus and Q and A sections don’t really talk much about the situations in which it might be used. Thanks.

By Sturunner on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by rachel

Hi Rachel
I think that you just select the war option if you want to use your tribe members to fight someone else.
Another helpful person on here said that there is no point going to war unless you have lots of energy and you are pretty tooled up.
Or, you get your but kicked. Then you end up minus for gold.
So do not go to war if you are weak and do not want to lose all your gold. :)
I personally have not tried it yet.
To much to sort out in the rest of the game :)

By rachel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by Sturunner

Ah ok thanks for that. Now i know it has no absolutely essential purpose i won’t be in a hurry to try it lol, despite being fairly tooled up and have a decent army of people and energy. Sounds like there are pressing matters to attend to lol ☺️

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

I'm wondering if your inventory might be full? Maybe that's why you're not getting the woods. If you're getting 0 woods maybe the simple axe is picking up space and you may need to expand your warehouse. Since I am in the very early stages of the game I only have 5 people working for me and I have 5 simple axe. And 1 of the axe would give back 15 woods so if you have 20 you're receiving a lot which your inventory may not be able to store.

Hello all!

I really and truly love this game ! However I am having a problem because I don’t know how to remove my people from teams. I have tried everything I can think of but once I put them in a team I don’t know how to remove them from that team. Can anyone help? And also with the bell tower I am also experiencing there are no disasters or war or anything as well thanks!

Hi. It looks as though once a person is assigned to a team they cannot be removed. There is no option allowing this. Maybe an idea for a future update perhaps?

You can auto assign all your people to a team by long pressing the team button.
This will assign your people to one of the first 3 teams.

If you want someone to be in a group of one then tap on the team button and pick a team that has no members in it.

By rachel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by John from Wood…

Hi john. Thanks for that - something i didn’t know. If a person is assigned to one team, is it possible to reassign them to a different team later on or not? For instance, once you have a good number of people recruited and you want to change the teams around.

By Mattie SV on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

Thank you so much for your responses!

You can change any ones team to be any one of the available teams.

In the list of available teams the number shows the number of current members in that team.

Thanks a lot Ornella!
I have reduced my axes to 4 instead of 20 LOL and now the wood is appearing when I chop down trees!
I must have been getting a mad number of trees in one go because I have 3 in a team and some teams now have 4 members.
So I get at least 180 trees when I chop them down now.
What a difference it makes when you have lots of wood lying around.
You can build much faster.
Thanks again Ornella :)
Gold star coming your way!

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

As said by Jon in another foram post you only need 1 simple axe to chop down trees so sell the other 3 that you have. lol

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

You could remove a person but its kind of tricky because I accidentally added someone to a different team. So I think this is how you do it so you use the previous and next tabs to switch to the team you want then tap on the team button which ever 1 is active and I think it will remove them. If that doesn't work try tapping on which ever team first to have it activated then tap on the person. Its kind of confusing but I would've wanted it to be assigned a different way so it would be easier. And on a different note I hope the disasters settings get fixed in another update because sometimes when I start the game before I could even get to turn off the disasters there's already 1 popping up and I was lucky to get rid of them.

By Roxann Pollard on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

Hello Ornella. I tried both suggestions but neither one worked for me. What I did discover, however, is how to auto-assign your team members. Do a one-finger long press on the team button and a pop up tells you that members have been audo-assigned to teams. There is an okay button to click on.

Unfortunately, I made my preferred method for playing the game even worse. I had one member assigned to a team and all other members not assigned at all, when what I was trying to do is unassigned that one member. By playing around, now they are all randomly assigned. I know the teams are valuable, but, for now, I would have preferred all members to not be assigned as I am sending all members to do one task at a time anyway.

Perhaps in a future update, some of this will be sorted out.

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

The same thing happened to me but I was playing around with that method and I got them all out and since I am sending all of them to do the same thing anyway I just left them on 1 team. I do have a question about the water well. I sent my people to get water there and they came back with no water. they had enough energy and time and I'm wondering if I expanded the well to level 50 is why I'm not getting the amount that its supposed to bring because my inventory might be to full. Could someone clarify? Thanks.

By rachel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by Ornella

Hi. As you say, might it be that your inventory needs clearing to make room? In my experience so far, if i’ve sent someone for anything and they’ve returned with nothing, i’ve been able to fix the problem either by selling or using stuff i already have in order to free up space. Alternatively if you have enough gold you could expand your warehouse in the shop.

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

I figured that but I didn't get the warning so I do have to expand my warehouse. When I was trying to turn the disasters off I lost my farms but thank god I still have my shops and some other buildings. Some of the items when you long press on it, no info is really given. Like I tapped on the metal bucket and it doesn't say what its used for. I'm guessing water but when I made 1 and sent people for water I got the usual amount.

By Sturunner on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by Ornella

Hi Ornella
I just sent a team of 3 tribes people to the well and they came back with 60 units of water.
My well is at level 1
So level 50 well would in theory bring back 50 times that amount if you sent 3 people
That is a hell of a lot of water and so that is why no water came back.
You have done what I did with my 20axes and trees LOL
Try 4 or 5 wells and you should be ok.
Since I sorted the trees out I am making far more progress now.
I am up to 23 tribes people now and thinking about doing some wartype stuff soon.
Just need to kit them all out with metal type stuff :)

By Martin on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

In reply to by Sturunner

So now that you have 23 people Stu, make sure to expand your warehouse as much as you can by selling some of your inventory and then shopping. Try to create the library, because then you can study and get diamonds. That's where it gets really interesting.

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

I know what the description says about the cart but I am not sure what its really used for. And thanks Sturunner. I am not so far in the game. I am building different parts to some of the buildings. And if anyone has any ideas on what some of the tools are used for here and are willing to share I appreciate that. I know what the needles simple bowl, axe and knives are used for. Its just the drill, saw, cart and some of the other things which don't have any description to them. And thanks so much again.

By Sturunner on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

Ok, cool, will def build a library then. :)
Thanks for the tip Martin.
I have noticed though that when you give your people new stuff to wear, their old stuff does not go back into your inventory.
So watch out for that one.
Nice that I do not have to turn negative things off all the time now though.
Thanks for the latest update John. :)

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

I am happy for the update but the sounds are broken again. At least on my end. So I have to wait and listen to 10 people eat and do tasks 1 after the next. Glad the disasters are fixed.

By Roxann Pollard on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 03:38

Confirming the broken sound effects. Whenever a task completes, I have to listen to many, many same sound repeats. for the whole team.
