Dear,

My name is Kristof Nijs. I try to make audio games for the visually impaired.
My second audio game is ready and it's called "Hunting the ducks".
The app is available in the EU and the US for people aged 17 or older and is currently available in German, English, French, Italian, Dutch and Spanish.

Below is a brief description as it appears in Apple's App Store:

"Hunting the ducks", the accessible hunting game!

You are in the woods on the shore of a pond. Occasionally a duck will fly by, sometimes from left to right, sometimes from right to left, sometimes slow and sometimes fast.
Either you are a hunter and try to shoot the ducks, or you are a nature conservation officer and try to catch the ducks with a net for research.
Try to catch as many ducks as possible to earn points. But listen carefully, because you can only make 20 attempts.
Fast ducks get you more points.
The more ducks you catch in a row, the more points you get for the next duck you catch.
Note: Ducks you do not attempt to catch will not be counted.
The fewer attempts it takes you to catch a duck, the more points it earns.
Note: "Hunting the ducks" is an audio game, which means the game is played by ear. Headphones or earbuds are required to play this game properly.
"Hunting the ducks" integrates Game Center, so you can compare scores, track your achievements and can play against each other with 2 to 4 players real-time.
Don't hesitate to try "Hunting the ducks" for free.

You can download the app via the URL below:
https://apps.apple.com/app/hunting-the-ducks/id6444333799

Or on our website:

Do you think it is a good app and would you like other people to get to know it too? Spread the rumor or post the app in the App Directory on this website.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Kristof Nijs

I'm just wondering why you chose not to make this app available in Canada as well as other countries? This is not a criticism. I'm just curious.

By matheus rheine on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

hey! i would love to try the game, but it's not available here, please make it available world wide

By Jonathan Candler on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

Right. Good concept but system voice is not in English. Please fix! I can't even understand what things are saying. Game is set to English BTW

By Missy Hoppe on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

It sounds somewhat similar to the duck hunt game on the nintendo. Like that we can catch the ducks to save them rather than just killing them. I will most definitely check this out at some point fairly soon.It makes me t h

Wow, this sounds a lot like Duck Hunt!! I got it to work... I didn't do so well in the first round, but I'm going to have fun with this!

By Brian on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

The snickering dog in the background, and all will be right in the world. 😏

By ming on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

when will it released globally?
can't wait to play it?

By David Standen on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

Unfortunately, I am unable to try this game as I am located in Australia, and this is something I would really enjoy playing. The same also holds true for your first game, "Sound Echo". I understand that game was nominated for the Applevis Game of the Year award last year, and you possibly would have received more votes if it had been released worldwide. I hope you will consider releasing all of your titles worldwide in the future.

By Brooke on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

I'm able to play, but every so often, it speaks in a language other than English. I know someone else above mentioned a similar issue.

By Fenrir on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

How do I move around?
The tts is really weird and very difficult to understand.

By Jonathan Candler on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

You don't move around. If you have fixed position turned on you don't you just simply listen for the duck to be in the center. If you have it off from what I understand You'd simply touch where you think the duck is at that point in time. Never tried it though but from what I read in the help, sounds like it's the case. Oh and you can totally get them all in a row if you have the beeping turned on and you don't even need headphones. I've played without and I feel it's kind of too easy at this point Lol. Ain't nocking the game of course. It does remind me of some of the other duck hunting games I've played.

By Fenrir on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

If turn off fixed position, it tells me that I should hear the next duck coming from the right, but instead, it comes from the left.

By Kristof on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

Hello,

You're right that the sounds comes from the wrong side when "fixed direction is enabled. I always tested with headphone but probably I weared my headphone flipped. This is a bug. I'll fix it in the next update.

Thanks for reporting this.

With kind regards,
Kristof

Dear,

I would like to respond to your messages.

I can report that the wrong voice bug has been resolved.
The update has already been posted.

I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that SoundEcho was nominated for game of the year at AppleVis and glad to hear that many of you like the games.
The reason why the apps are only available in the EU and the US is because of export and tax regulations. My company is a sole proprietorship and it is not always easy to comply with all legal regulations. I would definitely consider making the apps available in more countries. My first goal was to launch multiple apps to increase sales.

Thank you for your enthusiastic responses.

Kind regards,
Kristof Nijs

Hoping new levels will be added soon.

By Tristo on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

I'd love to play this game, but I'm in Australia so the app is not supported. Please make it world wide.

By Serena on Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 02:21

i'm also in australia, and due to that, can't play this game. i get that you're trying to get more games out there to make more money or what ever, but putting them out world wide would be your better bet to do that. faster income than producing more games. but for now, you will only be getting income from a small area of the world.

When playing as the Hunter, what is the purpose of the 'Lead' shot? Other than it being incredibly loud?

By Country music fan on Thursday, May 9, 2024 - 02:21

Hi. Sounds like a really cool game, but I’m from New Zealand and would really love to play it and it’s not available in the New Zealand App Store. Is there something you can do to change that? I’ve been looking for a game like this for so long!

By Kristof on Thursday, May 9, 2024 - 02:21

Hello,

The stereo bug has been resolved in version 1.2.
To answer on the question of Brian, the lead shot shoots whider than a bullit so it's easier to hit a duck when using a lead shot.

Greetings,
Kristof

Good stuff. Thanks for the info. :)

By Sabrina on Thursday, May 16, 2024 - 02:21

This game is not my kind of thing. I think that the in-app purchase is way too expensive. It is quite dull and way too easy. Would have been interesting to at least walk around on the shore. Just staniing there feels dull. I am not saying it is a bad game; I just say that this is not my cup of tea because of these things. Especially the in-app purchase price.

By Kristof on Thursday, May 16, 2024 - 02:21

Hello Sabrina,

I respect your opinion and will keep in mind your feedback, perhaps for a future game.
What I want to say about the price of the in-app purchase is that making a game demands a lot of time to build and money to translate the game.
I want to ask you what else you can buy for that amount, for example when you go out for a drink?

Greetings,
Kristof

By Sabrina on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 - 02:21

Actually the game is great but just too easy. I find that I can play it tooe easy. I would like to be a ble to walk around. Also grateful that it is now in Swedish. Also the thing with it not b eing available everywhere.

By Kristof on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 - 02:21

Hi Sabrina,

I'm planning to improve the game but don't pinpoint a date on it. Perhaps more different animals, perhaps extra levels.

Kind regards,
Kristof

By Roxann Pollard on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 - 02:21

Good morning. Just wanted to put my request for more animals and other options to be upgraded within the game. This game is very entertaining, it could only get better, if you could add more levels, something else in the hunting club, Etc. Would love to see many different types of animals, locations, the ability to interact with my character inside of the hunting club, such as being able to purchase a drink, find out information from the bartender etc. perhaps being able to wander around the woods, finding different things, building a trophy room/cabin or something like this might work, as well.

By Tristo on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 - 02:21

Are there any plans to make this game global? I'm in Australia so can't play this game. I'm willing to pay for it.

By Kristof on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 - 02:21

Hello Sabrina, Roxann and others,

I added more animals and also a extra level.
You can enable the animals in the settings of the game, which are by default disabled.

Have fun.

Kind regards,
Kristof

Hello!
This sis fun so far, and I like that you can get things for points. are there real people here talking in the Hunter's hole? that's where I am now after earning 90 points/hunting only for now! Thank you for this, and I'll be going after some of those crows next hehe!

By Ashleigh Piccinino on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 - 02:21

Hello,
this seems like it's okay for younger kids/might work on sound location and tracking/good for O&M skills! I just wonder why the age rating's 17+ then?

By Ashleigh Piccinino on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 - 02:21

Hello!
wouldn't it be easier to use the phone's gyroscopic mechanics for aiming--point up or down for those directions when hunting at least? it seems like a more realistic thing, right? also, what about literally throwing the nets out in the various directions when your directional lock--when you can just throw/shoot in front of you--is disabled?

By Kristof on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 - 02:21

Hello Ashleigh and Ming,

I will briefly answer your interesting questions.

* Hunter's Hole
Hunter's Hole sounds are not real time. You can talk to the people in Hunter's Hole, but they won't hear you.
Maybe if Apple's AI features make this possible in the future, I can implement this ;-)

* Kids
The laws regarding app suitability for children are strict and Apple is very strict about this.
It is also not possible to change this qualification after an app has been published.

* Gyroscope
I'll see if I can use the gyroscope in future apps or future levels of this app.
It seems logical to me that the position of the headphones is also known. Maybe I should make this in combination with the Apple Vision Pro ;-)

* Globally
My next goal is to make the apps available in more countries. Because of the laws regarding privacy and so on, I look at this per country. I'm afraid it won't be possible to make the apps available in all countries.

Enjoy your weekend!

Kind regards,
Kristof

By ming on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 - 02:21

why not it can't be released in all countries?
it is my first time hearing that the app can't be released globally because the law and all that..
