I would highly recommend, "Penguin Blaster". It is a browser-based mobile game, so you can play it on any mobile platform running iOS or Android. It is very accessible, and highly addictive. Yet, you can walk away from it and go back to it anytime. It's not the type of game where you have to constantly be playing in order to progress.
There are a multitude of achievements, and mini games, to keep you invested in entertain for hours. Link below. π
I've been pretty into Dawncaster since it came out. I mean, it's story driven sort of, but each fight is just its own thing. So if I start the game and do a couple of rounds, then close it, I can not play it for days and come back to it, and it's just there, wherever I stopped. There are all the puzzle games for that kind of stuff too, Teacup Merge is a newer one, Super Tile Smash. For traditional cards there's accessible Solitaire, it has quite a few different games now, not just the typical one, e.g. in pyramid solitaire only certain cards are open for play when you start. You open up new cards by clearing spaces by making pairs that add up to thirteen.
My absolute favorite iPhone game right now is Dungeons and Such. I'm up to the 11th incarnation of the dungeon, and my elf paladin is level 610. Dawncaster would definitely be a very close second, though.
I made another post on here asking if someone could create a cooking game through the lovable website. Iβm not very good with telling AI what to fix and what to do. But I just wanted to come up with something that we could play for hours on end and not get tired of. I know I have a lot of games on my phone that I do play from time to time but I do get bored of lol. I know there was something on Facebook I had seen years ago that was supposed to be a fully accessible life simulation game with the mechanics of having a family and all that good stuff. But I emailed the developers and no one has gotten back to me on that. Besides, we have enough all life simulation games already, so I just wanted to get some cooking games out there since we donβt have any for the blind and visually impaired to actually play . I know everyone has their preferences on what games they like
Anyway check out feer, with 2 es, earopoly/ the other blindfold card games, dusk is an excellent timewayster, especially if you try to climb the leaderboards. It's plenty more but that's all I can recall off the top.
Depending on the kind of experience I'm after, I have a few games. For very casual rpg style fun, I like Path of Adventure. I play that one every day at least a couple of times. The mechanics are simple but present you with just enough resource and risk management decisions. There's no way to get lost and no two games turn out the same. I've been playing Path of Adventure for a good seven years at least.
For a deeper experience along the same lines, I would point you to Dawncaster. There's a good underlying system and so many cards that no two runs would be alike. At the deepest end of this kind of thing, there's Six Ages: Ride Like The Wind. That game is just epic, never plays through the same, and offers a very rich experience. Adventure to Fate: Dungeons is a newer rpg which also never plays the same twice and is somewhat easier than Six Ages. Those two are very different games. One puts you in charge of a whole clan of simulated characters while the other is a single charactger dungeon exploration. I think of Adventure To Fate Dungeons like Path of Adventure taken to extremes.
There's also Back Gammon with Buddies, Dice and Card World, Shredder Chess, Echo Chain, Seven Little Words, and Forgotten. Hope that helps.
Right there with you. My recommendation has that, as well as daily challenges, etc. Those nice little nudges that make you keep coming back for more. Replayability for the win! π
Maybe because I get bored, or go through phases. I'll play a game for a while, then switch to something else, then come back to that one later. So daily rewards really don't do much for me. Probably why all of those idle games people seem to love so much bore me to tears. Well that and it's jsut scrolling numbers. You're not actually doing anything.
I really like games which offer a "Game of the day" or "daily challenge" feature. Examples of these are Past Puzzle, Brailliance, Pixel Bowling, Wordle, Penguin Blaster and Echo Chain.

I like card games for that.

God... I nearly had a hart-attack misreading that.

I'm kind of curious now.
OP, care to give us an example or two of a game that insists you keep playing it?
This is an easy one
Any game with daily rewards. The more you keep playing, the greater the rewards. I have played lots of such games in my career.

Acrobeat
Hi, solo dev here. Just posted here about my new game - Acrobeat. It's a timing game that plays in the browser and relies solely on audio.
