Would the SE be a good choice for my first iPhone?

I am thinking about acquiring my first iPhone. Is there any reason not to purchase an s.e.? Thanks

It really depends on what you want. If you're a fan of the iPhone 5 and 5S design, you will want the small screen on the SE. The SE is just $400 unlocked which is pretty sweet if you want an unlocked iPhone.

You may not want to get it for the following reasons:
<ol>
<li>"The iPhone SE does not include the upgraded touch ID system that is found in the 6S."</li>
<li>"The SE doesn't include the 3d touch feature."</li>
<li>"The SE will soon be made somewhat obsolete when the iPhone 7 comes out in a month."</li>
</ol>

In the end, it's up to you. You could get the SE, iPhone 6S, or simply wait until the iPhone 7 comes out in a few weeks. I would get the SE, but my 5S still works reasonably so I see no need to spend the money on a new iPhone. Nothing in the past two iPhone generations has enticed me enough. Well, not much except Apple Pay. Still, I'm waiting for a better reason to upgrade my device. I hope this helps.

Thanks, it's sort of a big step I'm contemplating. It's an expensive one too.

Hi there PA Joe, I have the SE. I like it because it's small enough to fit in a pocket. And, since I cannot read the screen or see pictures, I have no need for a big huge phone. Best of luck with your new phone. And, as you probably know by now, this site has lots of helpful stuff.

As has been said before, it depends on what you need or want. I have the 6S Plus, and I like the large size for two reasons: it has twice the battery capacity of the 6S or SE, and I have large hands, so even though I can't see the screen the larger size still helps me. It really depends on what you want and/or need. I use my phone workday in and out, so I really do need that big battery built in.
Personally, were I contemplating a new iPhone right now, I'd wait and see what the various iPhone 7 models have to offer and then make my decision. If you want one of those you can have them, and if you don't, previous models such as the SE or 6S will be a bit cheaper. You win either way.

Hi. I also have the 6S plus, plus a external battery case. I'd rather have some way of keeping the phone juiced up incase of a power outage or whatnot. Personally, if you can afford it, wait till the 7 comes out in early spetember and go from there. You get 3D touch, plus upgraded touch ID components plus other stuff which I don't know about till it's released. I'm waiting till christmas or so to see what other people say about the new phones!
Don't let us choose what you want. It's totally up to you whether you go with the SE or the 7/7 plus. Like others have said the plus has upgraded cameras, bigger battery, etc.

Hi. If you don't need the larger screen! I think it's ideal for you as it has a much better battery life than the iPhone 6. I would purchase the device after the new releases next month as the RRP will drop by a £100. I personally prefer my 6S[
+ because of the large screen for viewing Netflix and playing games that are accessible to us.
