VoiceOver Performance when switching between music and Screen reader while using Bluetooth Speakers or headphones with the Iphon

Hello all,
I bought new bluetooth headphones recently (Taotronics BTH22) and wanted to ask about a phenomenon I have found to be true with different bluetooth headphones and bluetooth speakers and the Iphone. At the moment we have an Iphone 7 and an Iphone X at hand. When listening to music or to texts with Voice Dream Reader I hear both the VoiceOver screen reader and the music. However, when stopping music or voiceover playback I have to turn off the headphones and turn them back on to hear the VoiceOver sound. Depending on the headphone or speaker I use sometimes it helps to press the home/side button or turn on siri for a moment. The only bluetooth headset that did not behave like this was the Titanium trackx by aftershockz.

I have two questions: Is there a workaround for this and secondly can you tell me of bluetooth headphones with Active Noise cancelling (Prefarbly) that do not display the behavior described above?

Thanks and kind regards,
Bianka

From what you’re describing, it seems to me that you are encountering what I would call the lag because of Bluetooth. What this will mean is if you have a sound that is playing right before voiceover speaks the text message, you will not hear the text message sound but voiceover will speak your text message to you over your headphones. If this is correct. It also has to deal with how the iPhone signal is transmitted to your headphones The Apple Corporation has tried to overcome this with a chip that they use to decrease this lab. You may try the EarPods that the Apple Corporation sells, I think they do reduce the lag.

Hello all,

thank you for the quick reply. I hadn't associated this phenomenon with lag. Actually, I hhad wanted headphones with active noise cancelling and didn't want to pay too much at the moment, so I can live with the lag issue. Just was curious to see if this is a known issue and whether there was a workaround I hadn't thought about.

Kind regards,

Bianka
