Hi all!
I've got a new Apple Magic Keyboard. It works propperly with iPad mini 6, but iPhone 14 doesn't pronounce the characters when typing on the keyboard. It pronounces the space key only. Can I do anything to fix it?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Gabriela,
I’m not sure as to why voiceover isn’t reading the characters and words when typing on your Magic Keyboard. Since using my keyboard since May 2023, I’ve had no problems with hearing the typing feedback, but I think I can help you. There are a couple ways of checking if a setting within voiceover has been changed. However, I have a question to ask myself. When you are not using your Magic Keyboard, can you hear typing feedback by tapping the letters on the screen?
Typing feedback reply
Hi Jasmine! Thank you for your answer!
Yes, when I am typing without my keyboard, I can hear feedback from my iPhone.
Method to Keyboard Feedback with Voiceover
Ok, cool. I would first try forgetting the device in your Bluetooth settings, since it is primarily related to the keyboard itself.
1. Go to settings > Bluetooth
2. Tap or swipe down when navigating to the Magic Keyboard connection
3. Double tap on forget device
4. Turn Magic Keyboard off, then back on to reconnect and pair to your device
See if that resets it. If not, here is another method.
1. Go to settings > accessibility > voiceover > typing
2. Then go down to typing feedback
3. Here, look for a heading that says hardware keyboards and play with the settings
4. Try selecting no feedback, then characters only, then words only, and lastly characters and words
When you change these settings, go to a place where you can type in text and see if it changes. It should be able to read both words and characters afterwards, but in the event that it doesn’t work, there may be a third method to fix this issue. However, let me know if these two methods don’t work or if you already tried them before.
Really hope this works!🙏
Solved
The second method worked.
Thank you very very much!
Yay It Worked!
I’m so glad that the second method worked. Normally it shouldn’t have done that, especially when voiceover was already reading both characters and words when typing on the screen, but I’m glad I could be of some help. :-)
