Hi all!
I am considering upgrading to a new iPad because I am unable to install the latest update on my iPad mini. I also need it to be capable of running the Alex voice like my iPhone 5s, and I want something that will be able to handle the next several IOS updates. I have no useable vision, so I will need it to pair with a bluetooth keyboard and my Focus 40 blue braille display. Any suggestions on the best way to go?

Another Thought
I also see that a new iPod touch model has been released. Has anyone worked with it enough to know if it is a viable option for someone used to the iPad mini? I will use it mostly for Kindle and apps like PowerPoint and Evernote. Again the Alex voice is important, so does anyone know if it is supported on the new iPod touch? Thanks so much! :)
hi
hi. firstly, to go with the second question first, yes, the new ipod supports alex. as to how it would run, it would run just fine. it really depends on how much screen you want. i have an iPad mini 2, and that's more then enough, though i wish it had touch ID. lol. of course, that's one thing the new iPod doesn't have.
but i still find myself thinking of getting a new iPod touch, simply for pocketability. can't drop an iPad into a pocket and walk around with it. lol.
as to if you go with a new iPad, i guess it still really comes down to how much screen space you want. the mini is more then big enough for my liking, but if you want more on the screen at one time, an air would be the thing to go for. you might find that there are better keyboard solutions for the air line, due to it's size. there are some for the mini, but being smaller, it makes things a little cramped. though if you are going to use your own bt keyboard, such as an apple wireless, that doesn't matter too much. hope these points help you get an idea of what you want.
If you like the mini, the 4th gen is superb
I sorted my partner and myself both mini 4s for this Christmas from a catalogue i'm a member of. The speed compared to our old first gen machines is great. I have the iPad Air 2 for writing projects, just because I have a lot of workflow type things and actions for drafts on that system. I know I can transfer them over but it's a way of keeping the machines tailored for what I need. I'd seriously think of the 4th gen mini though, it's a nice piece of kit.
Thanks!
Thanks for the info! I have used the mini 1st generation in a bt keyboard case for several years now, and it seems to work fantastically for what I use it for. I'm thinking that I will probably go with the 4th gen mini, but I am looking into the new iPad pro to see if there are any new features that the mini doesn't have.
