I am looking for recommendations for a good scanning stand to use with an iPhone and iPad and KNFB Reader.

Thanks for any leads.

After hearing the recent podcast about the KNFB Reader, I bought the StandScan Pro that was mentioned. I had read a review, somewhere, which gave me the impression that it would be a pain to set up the first time without sighted assistance, and that it would initially feel cheap -- and I do not mean inexpensive.

The StandScan Pro cost $40 from Amazon.

I now have the StandScan Pro. I am glad that my expectations were tempered a bit by the review I'd seen. It was not obvious by touch how to put it together, so I decided to get a bit of help the first time. The product material does feel flimsy, at first, and has a cardboard-like feel. I did wonder if I would regret the impulsive purchase.

However, I have been using it and am pretty pleased. I suspect it is over-priced, but it has done a good job for me. I do find it very useful. And, as I have always used my elbows on a desk to hold the camera at just the right distance, this stand is nice. I have put it to good use and am glad that I have it. Of course, now that I've seen it, I suspect I could have made a reasonable stand out of a office cardboard box with a hole on the top for the iPhone camera to peek through. But, had I done that, I would not have had the nice LED lights that are on the top inside edge of the stand.

Hi. I was looking into this very thing myself over the last day or so. The Giraffe stand seems to be very popular and unlike the StandScan Pro is made of polypropoline which sounds like it may last longer. However, it seems that if you wan to use different iDevices on it, you have to buy more than 1 as each stand is specifically designed for a specific make/model of phone. I'm very tempted by the StandScan pro myself as it does allow us to use more than 1 iDevice and given my husband and I have different iPhones, this would seem to make sense. Thanks for the review.
