Otterbox Defender for iPhone 8 Installation and Removal

I understand that these cases are difficult to install and remove even for sighted people.

So, are there any recommendations/accessible tutorials about how to go about putting the case on and taking it off your phone independently?

It has been a while since I have used an Otterbox, but let me see ifI remember correctly. I believe there are three pieces: one silicon sleeve, an outer shell, and then a snap-on screen protecter. If so, you need to put on the silicon sleeve first. Make sure, of course, that the buttons are oriented in the correct direction which you should be able to feel on the sleeve. You'll next want to put on the hard outer shell. This is the hardest piece to put on. Again, get the feel of the case to make sure it aligns with the buttons on the phone. You'll need to line it up and then try and put in one length-wise side at a time. I can almost promise you that you will either hit the wake button, the volume buttons, flip the silence switch, or all of the above, and probably multiple times. It will take effort. Finally, as the 8 still has a home button, I believe you will be able to feel the outer snap on screen protecter to align that correctly. It should snap on fairly easily.

Again, my data may be out of date or my mind may be slipping, but I hope this helps.

This is actually very specific and helpful. Until now, haven’t found any non-visual description this helpful.

Even when I’ve had sighted assistance putting it on, I’ve always powered down the phone first so as not to have them activate anything. LOL
