For the last couple of days, I've noticed a very troubling issue with my phone's battery. I have it plugged in, and its still losing charge. Yesterday, I plugged it in when the battery was around fifty percent. When I used my phone a few hours later, it had dropped to 47 percent, even though it was on the charger. Just a few minutes ago, I went to check the notifications and found that my phone was at 99 percent, also on the charger. Doe anybody know what could be causing this issue, and more importantly, how I can fix it? Please note that the nearest apple store is in a huge mall, and I have no way to get there.

Hi!
Hi!
I had something similar happen with my 5S when I had it last year. The battery took a crap and died, literally going from 20% to 1%. I shut the phone off and tried to reboot the darn thing, but it wouldn't go, so I put the phone on charge, waited for like half an hour, then it finally came back to life. I took it to batteries plus and they replaced the battery for something like $50, can't remember the price!
Hope this helps you with your phone, but anyway, it looks like ya might be in for a battery replacement or upgrade thru your phone carrier.
Try recalibration
Here are some steps to recalibrate your iPhone.
1. Totally drain the battery
2. Put the phone on charge and do not use while charging
3. When the phone has finished charging, drain the battery again.
4. Put the phone back on charge and don't use it.
5. When the phone has finished charging, press the home and power buttons and hold them down until the phone reboots. Good luck
some things to check
Do you know if the iPhone is charging for all the time it is on the charger? If it isn't or doesn't maintain a connection, the problem might not be with the battery itself.
The problem could be related to your charging cable, your power adapter or USB port, power source, EG computer or wall outlet, or your dock connecter. If possible, try using a different cable, different power adapter or USB port if you are charging through a computer, and a different computer or wall outlet. If you experience different results, you can isolate the component changed in that test as the cause of the issue.
If nothing changes, the problem could be related to your dock connecter or battery. It is possible for debris to accumulate in the dock connecter, blocking the connection. Try cleaning it carefully with a toothpick. If that doesn't work, you may need a replacement of your battery or dock assembly.
